Anna had told them where the original records were hidden.
Beneath the old racing trophy cabinet.
They found a steel box.
Inside was the complete ledger.
Names.
Payments.
Bank transfers.
Everything.
Julian stared at the pages.
“My father had proof.”
“And Mercer wanted it destroyed.”
A car stopped outside.
Marcus looked through the window.
“That’s Mercer.”
Grant entered the workshop with two men.
He smiled.
“You have no idea what you’ve found.”
Julian stepped forward.
“Actually, I think we do.”
Grant’s smile disappeared.
“You should have left the past alone.”
Clara held the ledger tightly.
“Why were our parents so afraid of you?”
Grant’s eyes moved toward her.
“Your mother was smarter than you.”
Julian moved closer.
“Don’t threaten her.”
Grant laughed.
“You’re still exactly like your father.”
Then he walked away.
But before leaving, he whispered:
