She Asked Me to Be Her Fake Fiancé at Her Ex’s Wedding… Then Kissed Me in Front of Everyone
Chapter 5
The man who entered was Samuel Pierce.
Thomas Hart’s former attorney.
Olivia recognized him instantly.
“What are you doing here?”
Samuel looked at the documents.
“I came to protect you.”
“From what?”
“Your father’s enemies.”
She laughed bitterly.
“You disappeared after his death.”
“I was instructed to.”
“By whom?”
Samuel looked at me.
“Your father.”
I stepped forward.
“My father was dead.”
“Not when the instructions were written.”
Olivia stared.
“What are you saying?”
Samuel placed an envelope on the table.
“Your father knew he was going to die.”
He had predicted the accident.
He knew someone was coming after him.
He created a trust.
He hid assets.
And he asked Ethan’s father to protect Olivia.
My father had agreed.
But after Thomas died, Ethan’s father became afraid.
He moved the assets.
Then died before he could explain.
Olivia stared.
“Why was Daniel involved?”
Samuel looked away.
“He wasn’t.”
She frowned.
“Then why did he leave me?”
“Because he was told to.”
“By who?”
Samuel hesitated.
“Your mother.”
Olivia’s face changed.
“My mother?”
“She wanted you away from the trust.”
“Why?”
“Because she believed you were the target.”
Olivia shook her head.
“She never said that.”
“She couldn’t.”
I looked at Samuel.
“Who was threatening them?”
He answered:
“Someone named Gabriel Stone.”
I knew the name.
A corporate investor.
A powerful businessman.
And one of my father’s rivals.
“He wanted the trust.”
Samuel nodded.
“Your father refused.”
“So Gabriel killed him.”
“Yes.”
“Then why is Daniel involved?”
“He wasn’t.”
Samuel looked at Olivia.
“Daniel tried to protect you.”
She stared.
“What?”
“He broke up with you because Gabriel threatened your family.”
Olivia’s face collapsed.
“He told me he didn’t love me anymore.”
Samuel shook his head.
“He lied.”
She began crying.
I moved beside her.
“Olivia.”
She wiped her face.
“I hate him.”
“That’s okay.”
“No.”
She shook her head.
“I don’t know what to feel.”
Samuel placed another document on the table.
It was an agreement.
Daniel had signed it.
I will end the relationship to protect Olivia Hart.
Her hands trembled.
She looked at me.
“He did this for me?”
“Yes.”
Then the door exploded open.
Two armed men entered.
Samuel pushed Olivia down.
I grabbed her and pulled her behind a desk.
Gunfire shattered the room.
Someone screamed.
I returned fire.
The men fled.
Samuel was wounded.
Olivia knelt beside him.
“Stay with me.”
He grabbed her wrist.
“They know.”
“Who?”
“Gabriel.”
“What about him?”
“He knows you have the ring.”
She looked at me.
Samuel whispered:
“The ring isn’t a key.”
I frowned.
“What is it?”
He looked at Olivia.
“It’s a warning.”
