She Asked Me to Be Her Fake Fiancé at Her Ex’s Wedding… Then Kissed Me in Front of Everyone

Chapter 10

Our first real date was surprisingly normal.

No mafia families.

No billion-dollar trusts.

No guns.

No secret rooms.

Just dinner.

Olivia wore jeans.

I wore a shirt she said made me look “too serious.”

I laughed.

She smiled.

Then we talked.

About everything.

The fake engagement.

Daniel.

Our families.

The kiss.

“How did you decide to kiss me?” I asked.

She smiled.

“I didn’t.”

“You didn’t?”

“No.”

“Then what happened?”

“I looked at you.”

“And?”

“I realized you were the only person in the room who wasn’t pretending.”

I stared at her.

“That was enough?”

“Yes.”

She reached across the table.

“I knew I was safe.”

I took her hand.

“I’ve loved you for six years.”

“That’s a long time.”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you say anything?”

“Because you were happy.”

She lowered her eyes.

“Was I?”

“No.”

She looked at me.

“You always saw that.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I watched you.”

She smiled.

“That sounds creepy.”

“It was romantic in my head.”

She laughed.

We spent the next months rebuilding.

Olivia returned to work.

Daniel started his own company.

Her mother moved closer.

The family trust was reorganized.

Half the money funded education.

The rest supported businesses built on transparency.

The story became public.

People loved the dramatic wedding.

They loved the fake engagement.

They loved the twist.

But Olivia and I didn’t talk about it much.

Because our real relationship had started after all the cameras stopped.

One evening, we returned to the wedding venue.

The same place where she had kissed me in front of everyone.

She stood in the empty ballroom.

“Do you remember?”

“Yes.”

“You froze.”

“I didn’t.”

“You did.”

“Only for a second.”

She laughed.

“I was terrified.”

“Of Daniel?”

“No.”

She looked at me.

“Of what you’d think after.”

I smiled.

“I thought you kissed me because you were trying to make someone jealous.”

“I was.”

“I knew it.”

She stepped closer.

“But then I realized something.”

“What?”

“I wasn’t thinking about Daniel when I kissed you.”

I looked at her.

“You were thinking about me.”

“Yes.”

She smiled.

“I hated that.”

“Why?”

“Because it made everything real.”

I reached for her hand.

“And now?”

She squeezed it.

“Now I like real.”

We kissed.

No audience.

No plan.

No pretending.

Then a voice came from the doorway.

“Finally.”

Daniel.

Olivia laughed.

“You’re impossible.”

He smiled.

“I’m your brother.”

She rolled her eyes.

“Unfortunately.”

He looked at me.

“Take care of her.”

“I will.”

Olivia smiled.

“He’s been doing that for years.”

Daniel nodded.

“I know.”

He left.

Olivia looked at me.

“Ready?”

“For what?”

She pulled out a small ring.

Not her grandmother’s.

New.

Simple.

Silver.

She held it out.

“I don’t want a fake fiancé anymore.”

I stared.

“What do you want?”

She smiled.

“A real one.”
