She Asked Me to Be Her Fake Fiancé at Her Ex’s Wedding… Then Kissed Me in Front of Everyone

Chapter 3

Daniel walked toward us.

“What ring is that?”

Olivia’s eyes widened.

I looked at the ring.

“Her grandmother’s.”

Daniel shook his head.

“No.”

I frowned.

“What?”

He looked at Olivia.

“You know what that ring means.”

She went silent.

I looked between them.

“What does it mean?”

Daniel took a breath.

“My grandmother gave it to Olivia’s mother.”

Olivia stared at him.

“What are you talking about?”

Daniel looked at her.

“That ring belonged to my family.”

Silence.

Olivia pulled it off my finger.

She stared at the inscription.

Always choose the person who stays.

Daniel whispered:

“My grandfather gave it to your grandmother.”

Olivia looked confused.

“Why?”

“He promised her something.”

“What?”

Daniel didn’t answer.

His mother appeared.

“Daniel.”

He stopped.

She looked at the ring.

Then at Olivia.

Her expression changed completely.

“You have that?”

Olivia nodded.

“My grandmother gave it to me.”

“When?”

“Before she died.”

Daniel’s mother looked frightened.

“Then she never told you.”

“Told me what?”

The woman stepped closer.

“That our families were supposed to be connected.”

Olivia laughed bitterly.

“Connected?”

“Yes.”

“How?”

“Your grandmother and Daniel’s grandfather had an agreement.”

Daniel looked furious.

“Mom.”

She ignored him.

“The two families were supposed to merge their businesses.”

Olivia stared.

“What businesses?”

“Your grandmother’s estate.”

“My grandmother had no business.”

“She did.”

I looked at Olivia.

She had never mentioned this.

Daniel’s mother continued.

“Your family lost everything after your grandmother died.”

Olivia whispered:

“I thought she left debt.”

“She didn’t.”

“What?”

“She left assets.”

Olivia’s face went pale.

“How much?”

“Enough to change your life.”

Daniel interrupted.

“Stop.”

His mother looked at him.

“You’ve already lost her.”

He looked at Olivia.

“I never knew.”

Olivia shook her head.

“You knew enough to leave me.”

“That’s not fair.”

“Then tell me the truth.”

He looked away.

I stepped closer to Olivia.

“What exactly is happening?”

She shook her head.

“I don’t know.”

Daniel’s father joined us.

He looked at the ring.

Then at me.

His face hardened.

“Who gave you that?”

Olivia answered.

“My grandmother.”

He stared.

“Then you need to leave.”

I stepped forward.

“Why?”

He looked at Olivia.

“Because if your grandmother gave you that ring, she knew about the trust.”

“What trust?”

He didn’t answer.

Instead, he looked at Daniel.

“Get your mother.”

Daniel nodded.

I felt Olivia’s hand find mine again.

“Ethan.”

“I’m here.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Neither do I.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“I thought this was just a fake engagement.”

I stared at her.

“So did I.”

Then the lights suddenly went out.

Someone screamed.

The emergency lights came on.

A glass shattered.

People ran toward the exits.

I pulled Olivia behind me.

A gunshot echoed outside.

Then another.

Security rushed toward the courtyard.

Daniel shouted:

“Everyone stay inside!”

Olivia grabbed my arm.

“Who would do that?”

I looked at her.

“I don’t know.”

Then Daniel appeared beside us.

His face was pale.

“Someone just tried to shoot my father.”

Olivia’s eyes widened.

“Why?”

Daniel looked directly at me.

“Because someone wants that ring.”
