No Nurse Lasted a Week with the Ruthless Mafia Boss — Until the Poor Nurse Broke the Rules
Chapter 1
Why was the most feared man in the city lying unconscious on a bathroom floor while every nurse in his mansion had been ordered never to touch him?
Mia Carter found him at 2:17 in the morning.
She had been carrying a tray of medication down the marble hallway when she heard the crash.
The sound came from the private wing.
Mia stopped.
Every nurse who had worked in the Bellini mansion knew that hallway was forbidden after midnight.
The guards stood outside the entrance.
The cameras watched every door.
And everyone knew the rule.
Never enter Adrian Bellini’s private suite without permission.
Mia heard another sound.
A weak cough.
Then silence.
She put the tray down.
“Mr. Bellini?”
No answer.
She looked toward the two armed guards.
They were standing at the far end of the corridor.
Neither had heard anything.
Mia pushed open the door.
The bathroom light was on.
Adrian Bellini was lying beside the marble bathtub.
His white shirt was soaked with water.
Blood ran from a cut near his temple.
His face was pale.
Mia dropped to her knees.
“Mr. Bellini!”
His eyes opened slightly.
He looked at her.
Even half-conscious, there was something terrifying about him.
“You…”
His voice was barely audible.
“You shouldn’t be here.”
“I know.”
“Leave.”
Mia ignored him.
She checked his pulse.
Fast.
Irregular.
She touched his neck.
Cold sweat.
“Can you hear me?”
His eyes closed.
Mia slapped his cheek gently.
“Mr. Bellini, stay awake.”
His eyes opened again.
“You don’t follow orders.”
“No.”
“That’s going to get you killed.”
Mia reached for the medical kit.
“Then I guess I’ll worry about that later.”
She pressed gauze against his temple.
Adrian suddenly grabbed her wrist.
His fingers were surprisingly strong.
“Don’t call anyone.”
Mia stared at him.
“You’re bleeding.”
“I said don’t.”
“You might have a head injury.”
“I know my own body.”
“And apparently your own body has decided to collapse on the bathroom floor.”
For the first time, something almost like surprise crossed his face.
Then his grip weakened.
Mia continued treating him.
She checked his pupils.
Asked him questions.
Made him drink small amounts of water.
She didn’t know why he had collapsed.
She didn’t know what happened before she entered.
And she certainly didn’t know why a man feared by half the city had been lying alone with no guards inside.
But she knew one thing.
If she left him there, he might die.
So she broke the first rule.
She stayed.
And by sunrise, every person in the mansion would know.
The new nurse had done something none of the others had dared to do.
She had disobeyed Adrian Bellini.
