Six months later, Victoria asked to meet again.

This time, she came to the foundation.

She looked at the young entrepreneurs working inside.

“You built this?”

“Yes.”

She smiled sadly.

“You always wanted to build something.”

“I did.”

“I never understood.”

“I know.”

She looked at the people around us.

“Are you happy?”

I thought about it.

“Yes.”

“Without me?”

“Yes.”

She nodded.

“Good.”

She started crying.

“I’m sorry.”

I looked at her.

“For what?”

“For thinking money made someone valuable.”

I smiled.

“Most people learn that eventually.”

She laughed through her tears.

“I wish I’d learned sooner.”

I didn’t tell her that I wished the same.
