Mafia Boss Discovers His Bride Is a Virgin… He Thought His Innocent Bride Was…
Chapter 8
The truth changed everything.
Matteo’s father hadn’t been part of the conspiracy.
He had been trying to stop it.
But someone had murdered both parents to keep the secret buried.
And the person at the center of it all was Isabella’s aunt.
They returned to the city.
Before they could act, Isabella received a message.
Come to the old church. Alone.
She showed Matteo.
“You’re not going.”
She looked at him.
“I have to.”
“No.”
“You said you’d protect me.”
“Yes.”
“Then trust me.”
He frowned.
“I trust you.”
“Then trust my decision.”
Matteo was silent.
Finally, he nodded.
“But I will be there.”
She smiled.
“I knew you would.”
At the church, Isabella met her aunt.
The woman looked calm.
Almost loving.
“You’ve grown.”
Isabella stared.
“You killed my mother.”
“I protected the family.”
“You murdered her.”
“She was going to destroy everything.”
Matteo stepped from the shadows.
“You mean your empire.”
Her face hardened.
“You.”
Matteo walked forward.
“You killed my father too.”
She smiled.
“He was weak.”
Matteo’s eyes became dangerous.
“He trusted you.”
“And that’s why he died.”
She pulled out a small folder.
Inside were the original trust documents.
“The money belongs to me.”
“No,” Isabella said.
“It belongs to the bloodline.”
“My mother left it to me.”
“Because she was foolish.”
The aunt suddenly looked at Matteo.
“You married her to control her.”
“No.”
He looked at Isabella.
“I married her because our families demanded it.”
A pause.
“And I stayed because I chose her.”
The aunt laughed.
“Love makes men weak.”
Matteo answered:
“No. It gives them something worth protecting.”
The aunt’s smile vanished.
She reached for her phone.
Matteo’s security team entered.
But she had anticipated it.
The doors locked.
Gas began filling the room.
Isabella coughed.
Matteo pulled her toward the side exit.
He found a hidden door.
They escaped into the church courtyard.
Outside, police were already arriving.
Clara had contacted them.
The aunt was arrested.
The trust was secured.
The conspiracy began collapsing.
But there was one remaining question.
Why had Isabella been falsely described as an experienced woman?
Matteo asked her later.
She looked embarrassed.
“Because they wanted you to think I was careless.”
“Why?”
“So you’d believe I might betray you.”
He shook his head.
“They wanted me to distrust you.”
“And it worked?”
“For a few minutes.”
She looked at him.
“And now?”
He took her hand.
“Now I trust you more than anyone.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
She leaned toward him.
This time, when they kissed, neither of them hesitated.
