Mafia Boss Discovers His Bride Is a Virgin… He Thought His Innocent Bride Was…
Chapter 10
Six months later, Isabella discovered she was pregnant.
She stared at the test for several minutes.
Then she sat down.
Matteo found her in the bedroom.
“What happened?”
She looked up.
“I need to tell you something.”
He immediately became serious.
“Are you okay?”
She nodded.
Then handed him the test.
He stared.
Silence.
“Isabella?”
She smiled through tears.
“Yes.”
He sat beside her.
For a moment, the feared Mafia boss looked like an ordinary man.
Terrified.
Happy.
Speechless.
He placed a hand over hers.
“Are you sure?”
She laughed.
“I took three tests.”
He smiled.
Then his expression became serious.
“I don’t want our child growing up like I did.”
“Neither do I.”
“No fear.”
“No lies.”
“No family wars.”
“Yes.”
“No one deciding their life for them.”
She nodded.
“Exactly.”
He kissed her forehead.
That night, they told the people closest to them.
The news changed the atmosphere inside the family.
For the first time, old enemies had a reason to cooperate.
The foundation expanded.
Business rivals backed away.
Even some of Matteo’s enemies seemed to understand that the war was over.
But one person refused to accept it.
Victor Bellini.
He disappeared after the church incident.
Now he sent one final message.
You can have the money.
You can have the family.
But you will never have peace.
Matteo read it.
Isabella watched him.
“Don’t hide it.”
He handed her the phone.
She read the message.
“What are you going to do?”
“Protect you.”
She took his hand.
“Together.”
He looked at her.
“Together.”
Security increased.
The pregnancy progressed.
And Matteo changed.
He stopped working until midnight.
He started coming home for dinner.
He learned how to assemble a crib.
Badly.
Isabella laughed at him.
“You’ve negotiated with international criminals.”
“Yes.”
“You’ve survived three assassination attempts.”
“Yes.”
“And you can’t read the crib instructions.”
“They’re written badly.”
She laughed.
For the first time, the estate felt like a home.
Not a fortress.
Not a Mafia headquarters.
A home.
Then, one night, Isabella woke to find Matteo standing beside the window.
“What are you doing?”
“Thinking.”
“About what?”
He turned.
“Everything.”
She walked toward him.
“You look worried.”
“I’ve spent years believing happiness was something that got taken away.”
She touched his face.
“And now?”
He smiled.
“Now I’m starting to think I was wrong.”
