Disguised Boss Ordered Coffee in His Own Bar — Then Froze at the Waitress’s 3 Words!

Chapter 13

Samuel had planned everything.

The shooting.

The warnings.

The trust.

Even the discovery of the basement.

He had manipulated every side of the family for years.

He wanted Adrian to believe Joseph was the enemy.

He wanted Joseph to believe Victor was loyal.

He wanted Victor to believe the criminal network was controlled from elsewhere.

And while everyone fought, Samuel quietly positioned himself to take control of the family trust.

But there was one thing he hadn’t expected.

Mia.

She had found Lucas.

Lucas had found Nathan.

Nathan had found the federal investigators.

And Adrian had stopped hiding.

Samuel was arrested at the hospital before he could disappear.

Victor surrendered.

Joseph agreed to testify.

Richard gave investigators every document he had.

The criminal network began collapsing.

But Adrian still had one person to confront.

Eleanor.

The woman who had raised him.

His mother.

His aunt.

Whatever the paperwork said, she had been the person who held his hand when he was sick.

The person who waited outside every school play.

The person who stayed beside him after Michael supposedly died.

They sat together in the back room of the Blue Lantern.

“I should have told you,” Eleanor said.

“Yes.”

“I was afraid.”

“I know.”

“I thought the truth would destroy you.”

Adrian looked at her.

“The lies nearly did.”

She cried.

“I know.”

He reached across the table.

She hesitated before taking his hand.

“I loved you every day.”

Adrian squeezed her fingers.

“I know.”

It wasn’t forgiveness.

Not yet.

But it was a beginning.

Later that night, Adrian found Mia closing the bar.

“You’re quitting?”

She shook her head.

“No.”

“Good.”

“You’re not getting rid of me that easily.”

He smiled.

She looked at him.

“You still owe me coffee.”

“How many cups?”

“Enough to make up for all the lies.”

Adrian leaned against the bar.

“So this is about coffee?”

“No.”

“What is it about?”

She looked into his eyes.

“Trust.”

He went quiet.

“You don’t trust me.”

“I do.”

“Completely?”

She smiled.

“Not completely.”

“That sounds fair.”

She placed a cup in front of him.

Black.

He took a sip.

“Still terrible.”

She laughed.

“Liar.”

He looked at her.

“I mean it.”

“What?”

“The coffee.”

She shook her head.

“No.”

He smiled.

“The coffee is terrible.”

She stared at him.

Then laughed again.

For the first time in months, Adrian felt normal.

Not like a billionaire.

Not like a son carrying a family’s secrets.

Just a man sitting across from a woman he didn’t want to lose.

Then Lucas entered.

He held a document.

“There’s one more problem.”

Adrian sighed.

“What now?”

Lucas placed it on the counter.

“The trust has a second beneficiary.”

Adrian opened it.

The name wasn’t Joseph.

Not Eleanor.

Not Samuel.

It was Mia Bennett.

She stared.

“What?”

Lucas looked at Adrian.

“Your father left half the family voting rights to her.”

Adrian blinked.

“Why would he do that?”

Lucas smiled.

“Because he trusted her mother.”

Mia looked confused.

“My mother?”

Lucas nodded.

“She helped your father expose Joseph.”

Mia stared at the document.

Adrian looked at her.

“So…”

She laughed nervously.

“I’m half owner of your company?”

“Yes.”

She stared at him.

“That’s terrifying.”

Adrian smiled.

“You have no idea.”
