Disguised Boss Ordered Coffee in His Own Bar — Then Froze at the Waitress’s 3 Words!
Chapter 11
The police locked down the airport.
Samuel survived.
But Joseph was gone.
Eleanor’s location had been tracked to a private airfield outside the city.
Adrian and Nathan prepared to follow.
Mia refused to stay behind.
“You’re not leaving me.”
“This isn’t safe.”
“Neither was the Blue Lantern.”
Adrian looked at her.
She was right.
They drove together.
When they arrived, the airfield was empty.
Only an abandoned hangar remained.
Inside were boxes.
Documents.
Photographs.
And a wall covered with pictures of Cole family members.
Adrian stared.
Joseph had been watching the family for years.
At the center of the wall was a photograph of Adrian and Mia.
Taken outside the Blue Lantern.
Yesterday.
Mia stepped back.
“He knows about us.”
Adrian looked at her.
“I’m sorry.”
She shook her head.
“Don’t be.”
Then she noticed something.
One photograph had a red circle around it.
A picture of the Blue Lantern.
On the back was written:
Locker 27 wasn’t the last room.
Adrian froze.
There was another hidden area.
He called Lucas.
“Find every blueprint of the original bar.”
Lucas searched.
Then his voice came through the phone.
“There’s something strange.”
“What?”
“The original basement has two levels.”
Adrian stared.
“There’s a second basement?”
“Yes.”
They returned immediately.
Behind the old locker was a narrow staircase.
It led deeper beneath the bar.
At the bottom stood a steel door.
No keyhole.
Only a fingerprint scanner.
Adrian touched it.
The lock opened.
Inside was a small room.
On the wall were dozens of recordings.
His father’s voice.
His mother’s.
Eleanor’s.
Even Richard’s.
Adrian found one marked with today’s date.
He pressed play.
Joseph’s voice filled the room.
“You will eventually find this.”
Adrian stared.
Joseph continued.
“You’ll probably think the recordings prove I am guilty.”
A pause.
“They don’t.”
He explained that years earlier, he had discovered a criminal network attempting to acquire Cole Industries.
He had fought it using illegal methods.
Shell companies.
Fake contracts.
Hidden accounts.
He had become part of the thing he was trying to stop.
Michael discovered the truth.
They fought.
Michael wanted to expose everything.
Joseph believed exposure would destroy the company and everyone in it.
So he constructed a false death.
He disappeared.
He manipulated the family.
And continued fighting from the shadows.
But the money had eventually grown beyond his control.
The criminal network had taken over his operation.
Joseph admitted his greatest mistake.
He had believed he could control criminals by becoming more ruthless than they were.
He was wrong.
Adrian stopped the recording.
Mia looked at him.
“So your grandfather isn’t innocent.”
“No.”
“But maybe he isn’t the mastermind.”
Adrian shook his head.
“There is still someone above him.”
They heard footsteps.
Nathan raised his weapon.
A figure stepped from the darkness.
Victor Crane.
Adrian stared.
Victor smiled.
“I wondered when you’d find this room.”
Adrian’s voice hardened.
“You killed my father.”
Victor nodded.
“Yes.”
Mia gasped.
Adrian stepped forward.
“Why?”
Victor answered:
“Because your father found the real owner.”
“Who?”
Victor smiled.
“You.”
Adrian frowned.
Victor continued:
“Your father’s last secret is about you.”
