Bank Employee Humiliated a Poor Single Dad — Unaware He Owns the Entire Bank

Chapter 9

Richard Brooks returned two days later.

He walked into the bank wearing an immaculate black suit.

Everyone who saw him could tell immediately that he was related to Daniel.

Same eyes.

Same jaw.

Same expression when angry.

Daniel was waiting in his office.

Richard closed the door behind him.

“So.”

Daniel looked up.

“You’re my brother.”

Richard smiled.

“Half-brother.”

“Why did Dad hide you?”

Richard’s smile faded.

“Because he was ashamed.”

“Of you?”

“Of himself.”

Daniel said nothing.

Richard sat down.

“He created this perfect little family. You. Your mother. The simple life.”

“You hated him.”

“I hated that he chose you.”

Daniel frowned.

“Why?”

“Because you got everything.”

“I had nothing.”

Richard laughed.

“You had his love.”

The words hung in the room.

Daniel finally understood.

This wasn’t only greed.

It was resentment.

Richard had spent decades watching Daniel receive the one thing he wanted.

Acceptance.

“He never told me you existed.”

“I know.”

“He never gave me your name.”

“I know.”

“Then why did you target me?”

Richard leaned back.

“Because I wanted you to understand what it feels like to be powerless.”

Daniel stared.

“Like you?”

Richard smiled.

“Exactly.”

He admitted the scheme.

The bank had been manipulated through Victoria and Victor.

Customers were targeted.

Properties were acquired.

Shares were moved.

The goal was to create a financial crisis that would weaken the family trust.

Then Richard would take control.

“But why now?”

“Because Dad left the bank to you.”

Richard’s face darkened.

“He always chose you.”

Daniel felt no triumph.

Only sadness.

“You could have come to me.”

Richard laughed.

“And say what?”

“I’m your brother?”

“Yes.”

“You would have looked at me like I was damaged.”

“I wouldn’t have.”

Richard’s eyes hardened.

“You already had a family.”

Daniel shook his head.

“So did you.”

Richard became silent.

Then Daniel opened a drawer.

Inside was his father’s final letter.

He had copied it.

It contained one sentence Richard had never seen.

Richard, I didn’t abandon you because you were not worth loving. I hid you because I was ashamed of how badly I failed you.

Richard stared at the words.

His expression changed.

Daniel slid the letter across the desk.

“He knew.”

Richard’s hands trembled.

“He knew I was angry?”

“He knew everything.”

Richard looked down.

For the first time, Daniel saw a frightened man instead of a powerful enemy.

“You should have told me,” Richard whispered.

“I agree.”

A long silence followed.

Then Richard said:

“It’s too late.”

Daniel frowned.

“For what?”

“The bank’s illegal accounts aren’t the only problem.”

Richard looked up.

“There is money missing.”

“How much?”

“Four hundred million dollars.”

Daniel’s face hardened.

“Where did it go?”

Richard shook his head.

“Not to Victoria.”

“Then who?”

“I don’t know.”

Daniel stood.

“Then find out.”

Richard looked at him.

“You still trust me?”

“No.”

A pause.

“But you’re my brother.”

Richard looked away.

Daniel continued.

“That’s different.”

That night, investigators searched the bank’s server room.

They found the missing records.

The four hundred million had been moved through offshore accounts.

The final recipient was not a corporation.

It was an individual.

The beneficiary name appeared on the screen.

Daniel stared at it.

Daniel Brooks.

His own identity had been used.

Someone had been preparing to frame him before he even knew he owned the bank.
