Accountant Sold By Her Stepbrother—Then 3 Mafia Bosses Claimed Her As Their Own

Chapter 7

Marcus survived.

Barely.

Before being taken to the hospital, he gave Clara one final piece of information.

“Table 27.”

She nodded.

“Union Station.”

Marcus grabbed her wrist.

“Don’t trust…”

His eyes closed.

“Who?”

He couldn’t answer.

Clara looked at the three men.

One of them had been named in the warning.

But which one?

The thought haunted her.

At midnight, they reached Union Station.

The building was nearly empty.

Clara found the old restaurant.

Twenty-seven tables.

Table 27 stood in the corner.

She searched underneath it.

Nothing.

Then she found a small metal plate.

She removed it.

A memory card was hidden inside.

They took it to a secure room.

Clara opened the files.

Her father’s voice appeared.

“If you’re watching this, Clara, I’m sorry.”

She covered her mouth.

“I wanted to tell you everything.”

The video continued.

“Black Meridian isn’t controlled by one person.”

Clara watched.

“They operate through legitimate institutions.”

Banks.

Law firms.

Government contractors.

Corporations.

The organization was larger than she imagined.

Then her father said something that stunned her.

“They have someone inside the Whitmore-Moretti-Russo network.”

Clara looked at the three men.

One of them had been compromised.

The video continued.

“I don’t know which one.”

Clara stopped breathing.

Luca.

Dante.

Adrian.

Her father’s warning echoed in her mind.

Don’t trust…

The video ended.

Silence.

Dante looked at Clara.

“You think it’s one of us.”

She didn’t answer.

Adrian stepped backward.

“Maybe we should separate.”

Luca shook his head.

“That would make us easier targets.”

Clara stared at them.

“I need time.”

Dante’s expression hardened.

“You think one of us betrayed you?”

“I don’t know.”

“Then say it.”

“I can’t.”

Adrian looked at her.

“You should.”

Clara finally spoke.

“My father died protecting this secret.”

She looked at each man.

“I won’t let his last mistake be trusting the wrong person.”

Luca nodded.

“Fair.”

Dante turned away.

Adrian remained silent.

But Clara noticed something.

Adrian’s hands were shaking.

She wondered why.
