The Billionaire CEO Slipped “HELP” on a Napkin—Then a Single Dad at Table 15 Saw It

Chapter 9

The hospital doors locked automatically.

Daniel immediately grabbed Emma’s hand.

But Emma wasn’t there.

Daniel’s heart stopped.

He had left her with a trusted neighbor.

He quickly called.

No answer.

He called again.

Nothing.

Then a message appeared.

Your daughter is safe. For now.

Daniel nearly dropped the phone.

Victoria saw it.

“They have her.”

Daniel’s face hardened.

“Where?”

Another message appeared.

A location.

The old Sterling estate.

Victoria recognized it.

“My mother’s house.”

Daniel looked at her.

“Then that’s where we’re going.”

Michael shook his head.

“It’s a trap.”

“I know.”

“You can’t go.”

“She’s my daughter.”

Michael looked at him.

“Then we’ll go together.”

They escaped through the emergency stairwell.

Outside, police vehicles surrounded the hospital.

Daniel told an officer his daughter had been taken.

The officer immediately responded.

“We’ll send units.”

But Victoria stopped him.

“No.”

Daniel looked at her.

“Why?”

She pointed at one of the officers.

“That man works for my mother.”

Daniel recognized him from the warehouse.

The same face.

The same dark jacket.

They ran.

An hour later, they reached the Sterling estate.

The mansion sat behind enormous iron gates.

The gates opened before they reached them.

Inside, Emma was sitting at a dining table.

She was unharmed.

Daniel ran to her.

“Dad!”

He hugged her.

“Are you okay?”

Emma nodded.

A woman stood near the fireplace.

She was elegant.

Older.

But unmistakably Victoria’s mother.

Eleanor Sterling.

Victoria stared.

“You’ve been alive.”

Eleanor smiled.

“Of course.”

“Why?”

“Because dead women are difficult to find.”

Victoria stepped forward.

“You destroyed my family.”

Eleanor shook her head.

“No.”

She looked at Daniel.

“Your father destroyed it.”

Daniel frowned.

“What?”

Eleanor explained.

Thomas had discovered the network.

But he hadn’t destroyed it.

He had joined it.

Victoria shouted:

“You’re lying.”

Eleanor smiled.

“Ask him.”

The room went silent.

A door opened.

Thomas Sterling walked in.

Daniel stared.

Victoria’s father was alive.

But he looked exhausted.

Victoria whispered:

“Dad.”

Thomas looked at Eleanor.

Then at his children.

Finally at Daniel.

“I should have told you years ago.”

Daniel’s voice was cold.

“Tell me now.”

Thomas nodded.

“The network began with Eleanor.”

Victoria’s mother smiled.

“It was never about stealing money.”

Thomas continued.

“It was about influence.”

They had built a system that secretly controlled corporations, political campaigns, contracts, and financial institutions.

Thomas had joined to protect his children.

Then he realized he couldn’t escape.

Daniel looked at him.

“And my father?”

Thomas lowered his eyes.

“He tried to destroy it.”

“Did you kill him?”

“No.”

“Did Eleanor?”

Thomas looked at Eleanor.

She smiled.

“No.”

Then another voice came from behind Daniel.

Richard.

“You’ve finally brought everyone together.”

Daniel turned.

Richard held a gun.

Eleanor looked at him.

“You were told to stay away.”

Richard laughed.

“Your organization is finished.”

He pointed toward Daniel.

“Give me the key.”

Daniel held it tightly.

Then Emma whispered:

“Dad.”

Daniel looked down.

She was holding something.

A small wooden napkin holder from the restaurant.

There was a symbol carved into it.

A lighthouse.

Daniel suddenly understood.

The key wasn’t the final piece.

The napkin was.

And Emma had unknowingly brought the missing piece with her.
