Single Mom Warned Him Three Times to Stop — 5 Seconds Later, She Shocked Everyone Watching
Chapter 11
Olivia immediately called Daniel.
He arrived within minutes.
The photograph showed Noah walking into school.
The photographer had been across the street.
Daniel stared at it.
“They’re watching him.”
Olivia nodded.
“We thought Thomas was the only one.”
“He wasn’t.”
Federal investigators traced the photograph.
It had been uploaded from a public Wi-Fi network.
The signal disappeared.
Emily reviewed the image.
“There is something wrong.”
“What?”
She pointed to the corner.
A reflection appeared in a car window.
A man.
Wearing a red baseball cap.
Daniel recognized him.
“Thomas’s security chief.”
“He was arrested.”
“He escaped custody.”
The police were notified.
A nationwide search began.
But Olivia refused to let Noah leave her sight.
For two weeks, she drove him to school.
Picked him up.
Checked every car.
Every stranger.
Every shadow.
Noah noticed.
“Mom?”
“What?”
“Are you scared?”
Olivia smiled.
“No.”
He looked at her.
“You’re lying.”
She sighed.
“A little.”
“Why?”
“Because sometimes adults make bad choices.”
Noah thought.
“Like the machine guy?”
Olivia laughed.
“Yes.”
Meanwhile, Daniel faced another problem.
Reed Industrial’s board wanted him to sell the company.
The scandal had damaged its reputation.
Investors were nervous.
Several competitors were circling.
Daniel refused.
The board threatened to remove him.
Olivia listened during the meeting.
One director said:
“You’ve lost control.”
Daniel remained calm.
“No.”
“You nearly lost your life.”
“I know.”
“You’ve endangered the company.”
“No.”
The director looked at Olivia.
“And you brought in an unqualified consultant.”
Olivia raised an eyebrow.
Daniel said:
“She saved my life.”
The director scoffed.
“That’s not a business credential.”
Olivia stood.
“Maybe not.”
She placed a folder on the table.
“But I found the safety failure your engineers missed.”
She opened another.
“And I identified the access breach.”
Another.
“And I traced Horizon.”
Silence.
Then Daniel smiled.
“Any other questions?”
The board voted.
Daniel retained control.
But that evening, Olivia received another message.
COME TO THE OLD FACTORY ALONE.
She showed Daniel.
He shook his head.
“Absolutely not.”
“I wasn’t planning to.”
“Good.”
They sent federal agents.
The old factory was empty.
But they found a hidden room.
Inside were dozens of surveillance photographs.
Olivia.
Noah.
Daniel.
Emily.
Even Daniel’s mother.
Someone had been tracking them for years.
On the wall was a map.
One location was circled.
A school.
Noah’s school.
Olivia’s face went pale.
They rushed there.
Noah’s classroom was empty.
His teacher was unconscious in the hallway.
Olivia screamed his name.
“NOAH!”
Nothing.
Daniel ran down the corridor.
They found an open door at the back.
Outside, tire marks.
A black SUV disappearing into traffic.
Olivia collapsed against the wall.
Daniel grabbed her hand.
“We’ll find him.”
She looked at him.
“You promise?”
“Yes.”
He called every agency.
Police.
Federal investigators.
State troopers.
The search began immediately.
Then Olivia noticed something.
A toy car on the floor.
Noah’s favorite.
She picked it up.
There was a tiny piece of paper inside.
She unfolded it.
Three numbers.
4-1-7.
Olivia stared.
Daniel looked at her.
“What is it?”
“I don’t know.”
Emily arrived.
She examined it.
“Not a code.”
“What then?”
“An address.”
She recognized it.
A warehouse in Indiana.
The same place where Horizon’s first neural core had been built.
Daniel grabbed his coat.
“Let’s go.”
Emily stopped him.
“It’s a trap.”
“I know.”
“Then why go?”
Daniel looked at Olivia.
“Because my son is there.”
Olivia nodded.
“I’ll go too.”
Emily sighed.
“Then we’re all going.”
They left.
But none of them noticed the small camera hidden beneath the classroom desk.
Someone was watching.
And someone was smiling.
