Single Dad Was Dared to Dance With the Cold CEO — Then She Whispered Something Unforgettable

Chapter 14

Their wedding was small.

No reporters.

No investors.

No business executives.

Just family and friends.

Emma stood beside Victoria wearing a pale blue dress.

Daniel waited near the garden.

When Victoria walked toward him, she wasn’t the cold CEO from the ballroom.

She wasn’t the daughter of Gerald Sterling.

She wasn’t the woman who had spent her life protecting a company.

She was simply Victoria.

His Victoria.

When she reached him, Daniel smiled.

“You’re late.”

She laughed.

“By two minutes.”

“I’ve been waiting.”

“So have I.”

The ceremony was simple.

No grand speeches.

No business promises.

Just vows.

When it was Daniel’s turn, he looked at Victoria.

“I don’t promise that life will always be easy.”

She smiled through tears.

“I know.”

“I don’t promise to protect you from everything.”

“I wouldn’t let you anyway.”

People laughed.

Daniel continued.

“I promise I’ll stand beside you when things get hard.”

Victoria squeezed his hand.

“I promise I’ll never ask you to choose between love and the people you love.”

Daniel looked at Emma.

She smiled.

Victoria continued.

“I promise to love your daughter like she chose me.”

Emma’s eyes filled.

“And I promise to love the man who taught me that being vulnerable isn’t weakness.”

Daniel’s voice broke.

“When I met you, I thought you were the coldest person I’d ever known.”

“I was.”

“You were terrifying.”

“I know.”

“But somewhere between the warehouse, the investigation, and one ridiculous dance…”

She smiled.

“You became my favorite person.”

The ceremony ended with cheers.

Later that night, Daniel and Victoria danced.

Just the two of them.

No dare.

No audience.

No thirty-second timer.

Victoria rested her head against his shoulder.

“You know what I remember most?”

“What?”

“That night at the gala.”

“What did you remember?”

“You were nervous.”

“I was dancing with a billionaire.”

She laughed.

“I wasn’t thinking about the dance.”

“What were you thinking?”

She looked up.

“That I wanted you to stay.”

Daniel stared at her.

“You could have said that.”

“I wasn’t brave yet.”

“And now?”

She leaned close.

“I’ll say it as many times as you need.”

Then she whispered into his ear.

“I love you. And this time, I’m not afraid of anyone hearing it.”

Daniel held her tighter.

Across the garden, Emma watched them.

She smiled.

For the first time since Laura’s death, Daniel didn’t feel guilty about happiness.

He finally understood.

Love didn’t erase the past.

It simply gave the future a place to begin.
