She’s With Me — Single Dad Spoke Calmly, The Billionaire Heiress Stood Frozen at the Table

Chapter 7

Daniel nearly tore the city apart before Victoria stopped him.

“You cannot go alone.”

“I don’t have time.”

“You think whoever took Lily will let her go because you follow instructions?”

Daniel grabbed his coat.

Victoria blocked the door.

“Move.”

“No.”

His eyes burned.

“Victoria.”

“For ten years, you’ve made every decision alone.”

“Because people around me get hurt.”

Victoria stepped closer.

“And running fixed that?”

Daniel said nothing.

Emma stood behind them.

She had been crying.

But her voice was steady.

“Where are the files?”

Daniel hesitated.

Victoria understood.

“Not here?”

“No.”

“Where?”

He looked at Emma.

“Rebecca left something before she died.”

The three of them drove to an abandoned storage building outside the city.

Inside, Daniel found an old metal case.

Rebecca had hidden it beneath a loose floorboard.

There were photographs.

Account records.

Audio recordings.

Names of shell companies.

Payments made through Ashford subsidiaries.

Victoria went silent as she read.

“My father used these companies to move money.”

Daniel nodded.

“Rebecca discovered it.”

“And that got her killed.”

Daniel could not answer.

Then a voice came from behind them.

“I always wondered where she hid those.”

Charles Ashford stood in the doorway.

He was not alone.

Daniel slowly placed himself between Charles and Emma.

Victoria stared at her father.

“You took Lily?”

Charles looked almost offended.

“I did not.”

Daniel’s eyes narrowed.

“Then who did?”

Charles smiled.

“That is the question you should have asked before trusting my daughter.”

Victoria turned toward him.

“What?”

Charles looked directly at Daniel.

“Victoria isn’t the only Ashford who knows your past.”

From the shadows, another man stepped forward.

Daniel recognized him immediately.

His younger brother, Andrew.

The brother he had buried fifteen years ago.
