She Agreed to Be a Billionaire’s Fake Fiancée… Then He Fell for Her for Real
Chapter 13
Five years later, Emma stood on a stage accepting an award for one of New York’s fastest-growing event companies.
Alexander sat in the front row.
He was no longer simply the billionaire CEO everyone feared.
He was Emma’s husband.
And Sophie joked that he had become “the world’s richest assistant.”
When Emma finished her speech, she looked toward him.
Their eyes met.
He smiled.
The same smile she had first seen during their terrible dinner years ago.
After the event, they walked outside together.
Emma slipped her hand into his.
“Do you ever regret it?”
“Regret what?”
“That fake engagement.”
Alexander laughed.
“Never.”
“Even the contract?”
“Especially the contract.”
She smiled.
“Why?”
“Because without it, I might never have met you.”
They walked beneath the city lights.
Alexander stopped.
“Emma.”
“What?”
“I have something for you.”
He handed her a small envelope.
Inside was the original contract.
The same contract she had signed five years earlier.
But across the first page, Alexander had written:
VOID.
Emma laughed.
“You kept this?”
“Of course.”
She looked at the words.
Then he added:
“Best fake decision I ever made.”
Emma smiled.
“Mine too.”
She kissed him.
And as they walked home, Emma thought about the woman she had been five years earlier.
Twenty-seven.
Forty-seven dollars in her bank account.
Working every shift she could.
Desperate for a way forward.
She had agreed to pretend to love a billionaire for one million dollars.
She never expected the arrangement to give her something money couldn’t buy.
A family.
A future.
A partner.
A home.
And a man who had once been terrified that everyone loved his fortune…
Until he found someone who loved him when he had nothing to offer but himself.
The fake engagement had begun with a lie.
But the love that followed was the most honest thing either of them had ever known.
