She Agreed to Be a Billionaire’s Fake Fiancée… Then He Fell for Her for Real

Chapter 10

The investigation revealed that Victor wasn’t working alone.

Several executives were involved.

The fraud had been operating for years.

But the biggest surprise came from inside Alexander’s family.

Margaret had known about some of it.

She had suspected the executives were stealing.

She had created the fake engagement requirement partly to force Alexander to build relationships with people he could trust.

Emma finally understood.

“Your grandmother did all of this?”

Alexander shook his head.

“Not all.”

Margaret entered the room.

“I wanted him to stop living like a man who had already lost everything.”

Alexander looked at her.

“You could have told me.”

“You wouldn’t have listened.”

He sighed.

She smiled.

“And she changed you.”

Margaret looked at Emma.

“You used to think everyone wanted your money.”

Emma glanced at Alexander.

“Now?”

“Now he knows some people simply want him.”

Alexander smiled.

Margaret handed Emma a small box.

Inside was a family ring.

Emma stared.

“I can’t accept this.”

“You will.”

“Why?”

“Because I didn’t give it to you as his fake fiancée.”

Margaret smiled.

“I give it to you as the woman my grandson truly loves.”

Emma began crying.

Alexander wrapped an arm around her.

For the first time, there was no contract.

No deadline.

No performance.

Their relationship was completely real.

But Emma still remembered the original promise.

One million dollars.

She had never received it.

She approached Alexander that evening.

“Where’s my payment?”

He smiled.

“You still want it?”

“Absolutely.”

He laughed.

“I thought you loved me.”

“I do.”

“Then why the million?”

“Because I still have student loans.”

Alexander laughed harder.

“Fair.”

He transferred the money.

Emma stared at the notification.

Her life had changed.

But she didn’t leave.

That was what mattered.
