She Agreed to Be a Billionaire’s Fake Fiancée… Then He Fell for Her for Real
Chapter 12
Their wedding was small.
Margaret cried.
Sophie, Emma’s closest friend, laughed throughout the ceremony.
Alexander’s old colleagues watched in disbelief.
The billionaire CEO who once refused to date anyone was standing at an altar.
And he looked happier than anyone had ever seen him.
When Emma walked toward him, Alexander whispered:
“I still can’t believe you agreed to marry me.”
She smiled.
“You paid me one million dollars.”
He laughed.
“That’s not why.”
“I know.”
After the ceremony, they returned to the coffee shop where they had first met.
The owner recognized them immediately.
“You’re the couple from the news.”
Emma laughed.
“Unfortunately.”
Alexander smiled.
They sat at their old table.
Emma looked at him.
“Do you remember what you said?”
“I needed a fake fiancée.”
She smiled.
“And now?”
Alexander reached across the table.
“Now I need my wife.”
Emma took his hand.
“You know what’s funny?”
“What?”
“If you’d offered me ten million dollars that day, I still would’ve thought you were crazy.”
He laughed.
“And yet you signed.”
“I needed the money.”
“Of course.”
She smiled.
“But I stayed because of you.”
Alexander squeezed her hand.
“That’s all I ever wanted.”
Outside, rain tapped against the windows.
The same kind of rain that had fallen on the day they met.
But everything else was different.
They had started with a lie.
A carefully written contract.
A fake engagement.
A financial arrangement.
But somewhere between the staged dinners and forced smiles, something real had happened.
They had become each other’s home.
