Rich Girl Mocks The Single Dad Waiter’s English—Then Her Father Calls Him “Boss”
Chapter 12
The courtroom was packed.
News cameras waited outside.
Bennett Hospitality stock was falling.
Shareholders were panicking.
And Amelia sat at the center of it all.
Ethan was the one who had challenged the trust.
But he wasn’t trying to steal it.
He claimed the trust documents had been altered.
He believed their grandmother had written a second agreement.
One that would divide control between the siblings.
Amelia looked at him.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I didn’t trust anyone.”
“Even me?”
He smiled sadly.
“Especially you.”
She stared.
Then understood.
They had both been manipulated.
Daniel sat behind them.
He didn’t speak.
The judge reviewed the documents.
Then asked for the original trust.
Amelia handed it over.
A handwriting expert examined the signatures.
The result shocked everyone.
The document had been modified.
Not the main agreement.
One page.
The final page.
The clause concerning who would become trustee.
Daniel’s name had been added later.
Amelia looked at him.
“You didn’t know.”
“No.”
Ethan looked at Daniel.
“You didn’t.”
Daniel shook his head.
“Someone added my name to create suspicion.”
The judge ordered an investigation.
Then Richard stood.
“I know who did it.”
Everyone looked at him.
He pointed to himself.
“I did.”
Amelia’s face went pale.
“Dad?”
Richard’s voice shook.
“I changed one page.”
“Why?”
“To protect Daniel.”
“From what?”
“From my father.”
Silence.
Richard explained.
Years earlier, Amelia’s grandfather had intended to use Daniel as the public owner of the company.
Richard refused.
He created the trust for Amelia.
But he knew Mercer would attack.
So he altered one document to make Daniel appear responsible for the structure.
That way, if Mercer discovered the trust, they would target Daniel instead of Amelia.
It was a terrible plan.
It worked for years.
Until Victor discovered it.
Amelia looked at her father.
“You lied to everyone.”
“Yes.”
“Even me.”
“Yes.”
“You made me believe Daniel was hiding something.”
“I was trying to save you.”
She closed her eyes.
“I’m tired of being protected by lies.”
Richard nodded.
“I know.”
The judge ruled that the trust remained Amelia’s.
The altered page was void.
Ethan withdrew his challenge.
The family won.
But there was still the company.
Amelia had a choice.
Keep the empire.
Or change it.
She looked at Daniel.
“What would you do?”
“It’s your decision.”
“You’re not going to tell me?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because I spent too much time deciding things for other people.”
She smiled.
“Then I’ll decide.”
She sold a large portion of the family assets.
Paid every employee owed money.
Reopened two branches that had been closed for cost-cutting.
Created a scholarship fund.
And changed the company’s hiring policies.
From that day forward, every senior executive had to spend one week each year working alongside front-line staff.
Not for publicity.
To understand the business.
On the first day, Amelia volunteered first.
She put on a uniform.
Daniel watched.
“You’re wearing it wrong.”
She frowned.
“How?”
“You’re buttoned all the way up.”
“So?”
“You’ll overheat.”
She rolled her eyes.
“Bossy.”
“I am the boss.”
She smiled.
“I’m still getting used to that.”
“You’ll survive.”
She looked at him.
“Did you ever think you’d fall for me?”
Daniel smiled.
“No.”
“Why?”
“You were awful.”
She laughed.
“I was.”
He looked at her.
“Then you changed.”
She stepped closer.
“And you stopped hiding.”
“Yes.”
She kissed him.
This time, nobody interrupted.
