Rich Girl Mocks The Single Dad Waiter’s English—Then Her Father Calls Him “Boss”
Chapter 10
The board ledger was hidden in the oldest Bennett property.
A private vault beneath the original hotel.
Daniel and Amelia arrived before sunrise.
Richard stayed behind with the authorities.
Ethan joined them.
For the first time, the siblings worked together.
No accusations.
No suspicion.
Just trust.
They entered the old hotel through a service tunnel.
Daniel found the vault.
Amelia used the trust key.
The door opened.
Inside were hundreds of files.
Victor’s transactions.
Mercer’s contracts.
Richard’s secret agreements.
Daniel’s father’s notes.
And one recording.
They played it.
Richard Bennett’s voice filled the room.
“I know what Mercer is doing.”
Daniel listened.
“I know Victor is involved.”
“I know my daughter will be targeted.”
Another voice answered.
Daniel’s father.
“Then we create the trust.”
“For Amelia.”
“Yes.”
“And Daniel?”
“He’ll protect it.”
The recording stopped.
Amelia stared at Daniel.
“You knew?”
“No.”
“You were the trustee.”
“I was asked.”
“By your father.”
“Yes.”
“But you didn’t know why.”
“No.”
She smiled faintly.
“So we’re both idiots.”
Daniel laughed.
“Probably.”
The moment felt strangely warm.
Then Ethan found another file.
He opened it.
Inside was a transfer agreement.
Mercer Capital would gain control of Bennett Hospitality if the trust entered default.
But one clause stopped him.
Default requires the beneficiary to surrender voluntarily.
Amelia stared.
“All this time.”
Daniel nodded.
“They couldn’t legally take it.”
“So they were trying to make me sign.”
“Yes.”
She breathed slowly.
“They wanted me to betray myself.”
Daniel looked at her.
“They underestimated you.”
She smiled.
“You mean you did too.”
“No.”
“When I insulted you.”
“Yes.”
“When I mocked your English.”
“Yes.”
“When I thought you were just a waiter.”
He smiled.
“I never thought you were stupid.”
She looked at him.
“Really?”
“I thought you were careless.”
She laughed.
“That’s worse.”
“Maybe.”
They shared a quiet moment.
Then footsteps echoed outside.
Someone was coming.
Daniel raised his hand.
Everyone froze.
The vault door opened.
Victor stood there.
“You found it.”
Daniel looked at him.
“You’re finished.”
Victor smiled.
“Not yet.”
He held up a folder.
Inside was a court order.
Amelia’s voting rights had been frozen.
“Effective immediately,” Victor said.
Amelia stared.
“How?”
“Your fraud investigation.”
“That was fake.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
Daniel stepped forward.
“It does when the evidence proves fabrication.”
Victor laughed.
“You don’t have it.”
Daniel held up the ledger.
Victor’s smile disappeared.
“Give me that.”
“No.”
Victor’s men entered.
Ethan moved behind Amelia.
Daniel stepped forward.
“Let her go.”
Victor looked at Amelia.
“She’s the key.”
Then he said something that changed the room.
“Your father never intended you to own the company.”
Amelia froze.
“What?”
“He intended Daniel to.”
She looked at Daniel.
His face was blank.
Victor smiled.
“Ask him.”
Amelia turned.
“Is it true?”
Daniel answered immediately.
“No.”
Victor laughed.
“That’s why you’re dangerous.”
Amelia stared at Daniel.
He stepped toward her.
“Your father wanted you to choose.”
“To choose what?”
“Your life.”
Not the company.
Not the fortune.
Not the trust.
Her own future.
The trust was designed to make sure nobody could take that choice from her.
Amelia’s eyes filled with tears.
Victor’s men moved.
Daniel stood between them.
And this time, Amelia didn’t wait to be protected.
She grabbed the ledger.
And ran.
