My Wife Took A Phone Call During Dinner And Forgot I Speak Spanish

Chapter 10

Michael held Isabella’s hand.

The girl looked scared.

Daniel stepped forward.

“Let her go.”

Michael smiled.

“Still emotional.”

“She has nothing to do with this.”

“She’s the reason you’re here.”

Daniel stared.

“What do you want?”

“The trust.”

“You’ll get nothing.”

Michael laughed.

“Then she dies.”

Sophia moved forward.

“Please.”

Michael looked at her.

“You’ve always been sentimental.”

“You promised.”

“I changed my mind.”

Daniel clenched his fists.

“You’re my brother.”

Michael’s expression hardened.

“And you’re Father’s favorite.”

Daniel frowned.

“That was always your problem.”

Michael laughed.

“No.”

“My problem was that he believed you were better.”

He explained.

Their father had chosen Daniel as successor because Daniel was honest.

Michael hated him for it.

So he built Meridian into something their father could no longer control.

He manipulated accounts.

Created shell companies.

Bought people.

Destroyed anyone who threatened him.

Then Daniel became the final obstacle.

“The trust transfers tonight,” Michael said.

“No.”

“You have one hour.”

Daniel looked at Isabella.

She was crying.

He dropped his phone.

“Fine.”

Sophia looked at him.

“No.”

Daniel nodded subtly.

She understood.

He was buying time.

They moved into the study.

Michael placed the trust documents in front of Daniel.

“Sign.”

Daniel picked up the pen.

Then he stopped.

“You said I inherited everything.”

“Yes.”

“What about the hidden archive?”

Michael’s eyes changed.

“What archive?”

Daniel smiled.

There.

He had confirmed it.

The real leverage wasn’t the money.

It was the archive.

Michael wanted it.

Daniel continued.

“My father left a digital record.”

“Where?”

“I’ll give it to you after you release Isabella.”

Michael shook his head.

“First, sign.”

“No.”

Michael pointed the gun.

Daniel looked directly at him.

“You won’t shoot.”

Michael smiled.

“Why?”

“Because if I die, you lose the trust.”

Michael’s expression changed.

Daniel had him.

The door suddenly opened.

Victor entered.

Michael raised the gun.

“Stop.”

Victor froze.

Behind him was Daniel’s mother.

Then Sophia.

Then police officers.

Michael looked around.

“How?”

Sophia smiled.

“I called them.”

Michael laughed.

“You’ll never prove anything.”

Daniel looked at him.

“We don’t have to.”

He held up the recorder.

“Your confession is recorded.”

Michael’s face went pale.

Then the lights went out.

A gunshot echoed.

When the lights came back, Michael was gone.

And Isabella was missing.

Again.

Daniel screamed her name.

The estate erupted into chaos.

Victor ran outside.

Sophia checked every room.

Daniel found a hidden door behind the fireplace.

A tunnel.

They followed it.

It led to a small garage.

A black vehicle sped away.

Daniel jumped into another car.

Sophia followed.

The chase continued for miles.

Finally, the black vehicle crashed into a barrier.

Daniel ran toward it.

Michael was injured.

But Isabella was gone.

“Where is she?”

Michael laughed.

“You’re too late.”

Daniel grabbed him.

“Where?”

Michael coughed.

“The river.”

Daniel’s blood ran cold.

They ran toward the bridge.

Below, the river was dark.

Then they saw a small boat.

Isabella was inside.

A man was steering it.

Victor ran to the dock.

Daniel followed.

The boat disappeared into the fog.

Then Victor pointed.

“There’s another boat.”

They chased.

Minutes later, the second boat reached the child.

Victor jumped aboard.

A struggle followed.

Then Isabella screamed.

Daniel heard her.

He jumped into the water.

Sophia screamed his name.

Daniel swam toward the boat.

He reached it.

Victor handed Isabella to him.

Daniel pulled her close.

“I’ve got you.”

She cried.

“I knew you’d come.”

Daniel held her.

“I’ll always come.”

Behind them, police boats arrived.

Michael was arrested on the bridge.

For the first time in years, the family secret was finally exposed.

But as Daniel looked at Sophia, he knew one truth remained unresolved.

Could their marriage survive everything that had been hidden?
