Millionaire’s Wife Humiliated the Waitress — Her Response Left the Entire Room Speechless!
Chapter 7
Martin Vale didn’t sit down.
He remained standing near the restaurant entrance, breathing heavily as if he had run several blocks.
Elena guided him toward a private corner.
“How did you find me?”
“I’ve been watching the restaurant.”
“Why?”
“Because Victoria comes here.”
Elena looked toward Table 18.
Victoria was checking her phone.
“Why are you afraid of her?”
Martin’s face tightened.
“Because she isn’t the person you think she is.”
Elena crossed her arms.
“Then tell me.”
Martin glanced around.
“I can’t.”
“You came here.”
“I needed to know if Daniel trusted you.”
Elena frowned.
“Why?”
“Because if he does, you might still be able to stop this.”
“Stop what?”
Martin sat down.
“The takeover.”
Elena’s heart raced.
“What takeover?”
“Sterling Capital.”
She stared at him.
“Victoria and your father are trying to force Daniel out.”
Martin nodded.
“They’ve been moving assets for months.”
“Why?”
“Because Daniel planned to expose them.”
Elena looked toward Daniel’s empty seat.
“Expose them for what?”
Martin lowered his voice.
“Fraud.”
Elena felt a chill.
“How much?”
“Over two hundred million dollars.”
She stared at him.
“You’re saying they stole two hundred million?”
“Not exactly.”
Martin rubbed his forehead.
“They created debt.”
“Whose?”
“Sterling Capital’s.”
Elena understood.
“They’re making the company look weaker than it is.”
“Exactly.”
“And then?”
“Victoria’s family investment group buys controlling interest at a discount.”
Elena’s mind raced.
“It would make Daniel’s own company vulnerable.”
Martin nodded.
“His father would remain chairman.”
“And Victoria?”
“She becomes the controlling shareholder through a trust.”
Elena looked toward Table 18.
Victoria was laughing with a couple nearby.
She looked harmless.
Elegant.
Perfect.
Martin continued.
“Daniel doesn’t know everything.”
“Why?”
“Because I was the one who helped build the structure.”
Elena looked at him.
“You helped them?”
“I was ordered to.”
“By Richard?”
Martin shook his head.
“By Victoria.”
Elena’s expression hardened.
Martin reached into his coat.
He pulled out a small flash drive.
“Everything is here.”
Elena didn’t take it.
“Why give it to me?”
“Because I can’t give it to Daniel.”
“Why not?”
“Because there’s a mole inside his office.”
Elena looked at the drive.
“Who?”
Martin shook his head.
“I don’t know.”
“Then how do you know there is one?”
“Because every time Daniel gets close to the truth, Victoria knows.”
Elena looked toward the dining room.
Victoria suddenly turned.
Their eyes met.
Victoria smiled.
Martin immediately stood.
“She saw me.”
“Wait.”
“I can’t stay.”
“Martin!”
He walked toward the exit.
Elena followed.
By the time she reached the door, he was gone.
Outside, she saw a black SUV accelerate away.
Then another vehicle followed.
Her phone buzzed.
Daniel.
“Where are you?”
“At the restaurant.”
“Did Martin Vale come there?”
Elena froze.
“How do you know?”
“Because someone just broke into my office.”
Her blood ran cold.
“What was taken?”
“My father’s old financial files.”
“Daniel…”
“What?”
“Martin gave me something.”
Silence.
“What?”
“A flash drive.”
Daniel’s voice became urgent.
“Don’t open it.”
“Why?”
“Because if Martin is telling the truth, whoever is behind this will know the moment we access it.”
Elena looked at the drive in her hand.
“Then what do we do?”
Daniel paused.
“Bring it to me.”
Elena hesitated.
“Where?”
“My house.”
She knew the address.
Daniel continued.
“And Elena?”
“Yes?”
“Don’t tell anyone.”
She looked across the restaurant.
Victoria was still sitting at Table 18.
But she wasn’t laughing anymore.
She was watching Elena.
Elena whispered:
“I won’t.”
That night, she drove to Daniel’s home.
The mansion sat behind iron gates overlooking Lake Michigan.
A security guard opened them.
Elena entered.
Daniel was waiting.
He looked at the flash drive.
Then at her.
“Are you sure you want to know what’s on this?”
Elena nodded.
“After tonight?”
She placed it on the table.
“Absolutely.”
Daniel inserted it into the computer.
A single folder appeared.
VESTA
He opened it.
Hundreds of files filled the screen.
Then one document appeared at the top.
Daniel opened it.
His face turned white.
“What?”
Elena asked.
He couldn’t speak.
She looked at the screen.
There was a photograph.
Victoria.
Richard.
Martin.
And a fourth person.
A woman Elena recognized immediately.
Her own manager, Mr. Harris.
