Millionaire’s Wife Humiliated the Waitress — Her Response Left the Entire Room Speechless!
Chapter 6
The photograph arrived the next morning.
Elena found it tucked beneath her apartment door.
It showed Lily walking into school.
On the back, someone had written:
Beautiful child. Be careful.
Elena’s hands began to shake.
She immediately called the police.
Then she called Daniel.
He answered on the first ring.
“What’s happened?”
Elena sent him the photograph.
He went silent.
Then:
“Get Lily out of school.”
“I already did.”
“I’m coming.”
“No.”
“Elena—”
“I said no.”
Daniel exhaled.
“Fine. But you’re not staying alone.”
Within an hour, Daniel had arranged security.
Elena hated it.
She hated needing protection.
She hated the feeling that her daughter’s safety depended on someone else’s money.
Most of all, she hated the idea that Victoria Sterling might somehow be connected.
But she refused to panic.
Instead, she did what she always did when life became impossible.
She worked.
She studied.
She searched.
She followed numbers.
The shell company, Harbor Bridge Consulting, had no real office.
Its registered address belonged to a law firm.
Its directors were listed as two men who appeared on dozens of other companies.
One name kept appearing.
Martin Vale.
Elena recognized it.
He was Sterling Capital’s former chief financial officer.
He had resigned eight months earlier.
Daniel confirmed it.
“Vale was my father’s right hand.”
“Where is he now?”
“Nobody knows.”
Elena looked at the documents.
“That’s not true.”
Daniel frowned.
“What?”
She pointed.
“His signature appears here.”
Daniel leaned closer.
The document was a transfer agreement.
Martin Vale had authorized the movement of $18 million.
But the transaction was dated three months after his resignation.
Daniel stared at the paper.
“That’s impossible.”
“Unless someone is using his identity.”
Daniel looked at her.
“Or unless he never really left.”
The investigation grew.
They discovered that several shell companies had transferred money into accounts connected to charities.
The charities then paid consulting fees.
Those fees went to another company.
Then another.
Money disappeared into a maze.
Elena understood the structure.
“Someone is laundering funds.”
Daniel nodded.
“But why?”
“To hide ownership.”
“Ownership of what?”
Elena looked at the largest payment.
A company called Northstar Ventures.
She searched the name.
Nothing.
Then she searched its registered agent.
Her face changed.
“What?”
Daniel asked.
“Northstar’s registered agent is the same law firm representing Victoria.”
Daniel stared at her.
“No.”
“Yes.”
He stood.
“We need to confront her.”
Elena shook her head.
“Not yet.”
“Why?”
“Because if Victoria knows we’re onto her, she’ll destroy the evidence.”
Daniel looked at her.
“You think my wife is involved?”
“I think we don’t know enough.”
That afternoon, Elena received another message.
You should have stayed in your place.
She deleted it.
Then another arrived.
Tonight, she will make you regret everything.
At 7:00 p.m., Victoria entered the Bellmont House.
Alone.
She walked directly toward Elena.
“Good evening.”
Elena felt the room watching.
“Good evening, Mrs. Sterling.”
Victoria smiled.
“You’ve become quite important.”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“Daniel talks about you.”
Elena said nothing.
Victoria leaned closer.
“You should be careful.”
The words were almost identical to the messages.
Elena’s pulse quickened.
Victoria noticed.
“Did I frighten you?”
“No.”
“Good.”
Victoria smiled.
“Because I’m not finished.”
Then she turned and walked toward Table 18.
Elena watched her.
Five minutes later, a man entered the restaurant.
Martin Vale.
The missing CFO.
He looked directly at Elena.
Then at Victoria.
Then quietly said:
“She knows everything.”
Elena stared at him.
“Who?”
Martin swallowed.
“Victoria.”
