Billionaire Dad Pretended To Be Sick To Test His Son’s Caregiver, Her Reaction Stunned Him

Chapter 10

One year later, Marcus stood outside the first Sterling Community Medical Center.

Hundreds of people attended the opening.

The building was modest compared with his mansions.

But it meant more to him.

Elena stood beside him.

Daniel held Noah’s hand.

Marcus looked at the crowd.

“I used to think wealth gave me the right to decide what mattered.”

He paused.

“I was wrong.”

The crowd was silent.

“I had more money than most people will ever see.”

He looked toward Elena.

“And yet I failed to see the value of one woman’s life.”

Elena looked down.

Marcus continued.

“Today isn’t about celebrating me.”

He smiled.

“It’s about correcting what I can.”

The applause was quiet at first.

Then it grew.

After the ceremony, Noah ran toward Marcus.

“Grandpa!”

Marcus knelt.

“What?”

“I made you something.”

He handed Marcus a drawing.

It showed four people standing outside a big building.

Marcus looked at it.

“Who are these?”

“Me.”

He pointed.

“Daddy.”

Then Elena.

“And you.”

Marcus smiled.

“Why did you draw us?”

Noah shrugged.

“Because you’re my family.”

Marcus’s eyes filled with tears.

Daniel looked away.

Elena smiled.

Later that evening, Daniel approached his father.

“Dad.”

“Yes?”

“I owe you an apology.”

“For what?”

“I didn’t trust Elena.”

Marcus smiled.

“Neither did I.”

Daniel laughed.

“Yeah.”

They stood silently.

Then Daniel said:

“You’re a better grandfather than you were a father.”

Marcus nodded.

“I know.”

“That wasn’t an insult.”

“I know.”

Daniel hugged him.

Marcus closed his eyes.

For years, he had wanted Daniel to become stronger.

He had pushed him toward business.

Money.

Success.

Now he understood.

His son didn’t need to become stronger.

He needed permission to be vulnerable.

And perhaps Marcus had needed the same thing.
