He Walked Away Because His Family Told Him To — Years Later, He Became a Billionaire and Discovered He Had Twin Daughters
Chapter 1
Emma Collins knew the exact moment her marriage ended.
It wasn’t when Daniel slammed the door.
It wasn’t when his mother called her a disgrace.
It was when Daniel looked into her eyes and said, “Maybe they’re right. Maybe this marriage was a mistake.”
Three weeks later, Emma discovered she was pregnant.
But by then, Daniel was already gone.
The memory returned whenever she looked at the old photograph on her bedroom shelf.
They had been twenty-three when they met.
Daniel was working two jobs while finishing university.
Emma was studying nursing and working evenings at a small café.
Neither had much money.
Neither cared.
They loved walking through the city at night, sharing cheap takeout, and talking about the future as though the world belonged to them.
They married two years later.
Then Daniel’s career began to change.
His family owned a small manufacturing company that had been struggling for decades.
His father wanted Daniel to join the business.
His mother wanted him to marry a woman from their social circle.
They considered Emma unsuitable.
Too poor.
Too ordinary.
Too independent.
For a while, Daniel defended her.
Then the pressure became constant.
“You are throwing your future away,” his father told him.
“She will never understand our family,” his mother said.
Daniel argued back.
But he was exhausted.
The final blow came when his father promised him control of the family business if he divorced Emma.
Daniel refused.
At least at first.
Then one evening, after an argument that lasted almost two hours, Daniel packed a suitcase.
Emma stood near the door.
“You’re really leaving?”
He stared at the floor.
“I need space.”
“From me?”
“From everything.”
She stepped closer.
“Daniel, we’re married.”
“I know.”
“Then stay.”
He looked at her.
His mother’s words echoed in his mind.
His father’s offer.
His fear of failing.
And finally, he whispered:
“Maybe you’re not the life I was supposed to have.”
Emma felt something inside her break.
He left.
Three weeks later, she stood inside a doctor’s office staring at an ultrasound.
“You’re pregnant,” the doctor said.
Emma smiled through tears.
Then the doctor added:
“Actually…”
She looked again.
“There are two.”
Twins.
Emma placed a trembling hand over her stomach.
She thought about calling Daniel.
Then remembered his final words.
She decided she would raise the children alone.
Not because she hated him.
Because she refused to beg someone to stay.
