“Your Translator Is Lying!” — A Waitress Warns a Billionaire Before a German Deal

Chapter 7

Daniel reached the suite in less than three minutes.

Security surrounded the hallway.

The man outside had disappeared.

Anna was still inside.

She opened the door only after Daniel confirmed his identity.

“Where is Martin?”

“Hospital.”

“Is he alive?”

“Barely.”

Anna looked frightened.

Daniel stepped inside.

“We’re leaving.”

“Where?”

“The ballroom.”

Anna stared at him.

“They want me there.”

“I know.”

“Then why are we going?”

“Because we’re going to turn their trap against them.”

Rachel arrived with Sarah.

They had contacted federal investigators.

The plan was simple.

The original German documents would be displayed publicly.

Every mistranslation would be exposed.

The recordings would be released.

And the offshore accounts would be frozen.

But they needed one final piece.

Proof that David’s network had deliberately manipulated the contracts.

Anna knew how to get it.

She pointed toward Martin’s translation files.

“There.”

Daniel opened them.

“What?”

“These documents contain revision history.”

Sarah looked closer.

“Digital timestamps.”

Anna nodded.

“Every time Martin changed a clause, the system recorded it.”

Rachel smiled.

“That’s enough.”

They rushed to the ballroom.

The German delegation was still there.

Hundreds of guests remained.

News cameras were already broadcasting.

Daniel walked onto the stage.

Everyone became silent.

The scheduled signing ceremony was supposed to begin in ten minutes.

Instead, Daniel picked up a microphone.

“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we were supposed to announce a four-hundred-and-fifty-million-dollar partnership.”

The audience applauded nervously.

Daniel continued.

“We will not be signing that contract.”

The room erupted in whispers.

David’s supporters stood.

“What is this?” one shouted.

Daniel raised his hand.

“There is a serious discrepancy between the English and German versions of this agreement.”

Martin’s chair stood empty.

Daniel turned toward the screen.

The original German paragraph appeared.

Then the English translation.

Anna walked onto the stage.

A few people laughed.

“Who is she?”

Daniel answered:

“She is the waitress who warned me.”

Anna took the microphone.

“My name is Anna Weber.”

She translated the disputed clause.

The room became silent.

She explained exactly what the German version meant.

Then another document appeared.

Then another.

Twelve contracts.

Twelve discrepancies.

The same pattern.

The same hidden liability.

Rachel’s investigative report appeared on another screen.

Names.

Companies.

Dates.

Payments.

Everything.

Then Daniel played the recording of David and Martin.

The ballroom went silent.

David’s voice echoed through the speakers.

“Once Daniel signs, the German company assumes liability.”

Gasps filled the room.

Then another recording played.

Martin admitted that he had been threatened.

The audience heard everything.

Federal investigators entered the ballroom.

David’s associates attempted to leave.

They were stopped.

Then a man at the back shouted:

“This is fabricated!”

Daniel looked toward him.

“You’re welcome to explain why your bank account appears in the records.”

The man turned pale.

Sarah handed the investigators a folder.

“Here are the originals.”

Anna stood beside Daniel.

Her hands were trembling.

He whispered:

“You’re doing fine.”

She nodded.

Then the ballroom doors opened.

A federal agent entered.

“Mr. Whitmore.”

“Yes?”

“We’ve frozen the accounts.”

Daniel exhaled.

The takeover had failed.

But there was still one problem.

Martin.

Daniel went to the hospital.

Martin was alive.

Barely conscious.

When he saw Daniel, tears filled his eyes.

“I’m sorry.”

Daniel sat beside him.

“Tell me everything.”

Martin nodded.

He explained that David had threatened his daughter.

But he also admitted that he had been involved before the threats.

He had accepted money.

He had changed translations.

He had betrayed Daniel’s father.

“I was afraid,” Martin whispered.

Daniel looked at him.

“So was everyone.”

Martin closed his eyes.

“I should have stopped.”

Daniel nodded.

“Yes.”

Outside the room, Anna stood silently.

Daniel joined her.

She looked at him.

“Is it over?”

Daniel looked down the hospital corridor.

“No.”

She frowned.

“Why?”

“Because we haven’t found the people above David.”

Anna’s face changed.

“What do you mean?”

Daniel showed her one document.

At the bottom were three initials.

A.W.

Anna stared.

Those were her father’s initials.

Her father hadn’t simply been a victim.

He had left something behind.

And Daniel suspected it could reveal the final person controlling the entire network.
