“Your Translator Is Lying!” — A Waitress Warns a Billionaire Before a German Deal

Chapter 6

Daniel agreed to meet David.

But he wasn’t going alone.

Rachel arranged surveillance.

Sarah contacted federal investigators.

Anna stayed in the secure suite.

Daniel walked into a private parking garage beneath the hotel.

David was waiting.

“You came.”

Daniel stopped.

“Where is Martin’s daughter?”

David smiled.

“So he told you.”

“Where is she?”

“Safe.”

“I asked where.”

David ignored the question.

“You’ve been digging.”

Daniel said nothing.

David sighed.

“You always were stubborn.”

“Why did you do this?”

David looked genuinely surprised.

“Because you were going to lose everything anyway.”

“That isn’t an answer.”

“You think companies survive because of hard work?”

Daniel stared at him.

David continued.

“They survive because someone is willing to control the risks.”

“You created those risks.”

“I created opportunities.”

“You framed innocent people.”

“I removed obstacles.”

“My father?”

David’s expression changed.

For the first time, he looked uncomfortable.

“Your father was warned.”

Daniel’s voice became cold.

“About what?”

“He refused to cooperate.”

“What happened to him?”

David looked away.

“I wasn’t there.”

“But you know.”

David didn’t answer.

Daniel stepped closer.

“You knew.”

David finally said:

“Your father was investigating the translation network.”

“And Anna’s father?”

“The same.”

“Did you kill them?”

“No.”

Daniel watched him carefully.

“Did you help cover it up?”

David remained silent.

That silence was enough.

Daniel’s hands tightened.

“Where is Martin’s daughter?”

David sighed.

“Room 1207.”

Daniel turned.

Then David grabbed his arm.

“Wait.”

“What?”

“You don’t understand the final stage.”

“What final stage?”

David looked terrified.

“Tonight’s signing isn’t the end.”

Daniel frowned.

“The contract?”

“It’s a trigger.”

“For what?”

“An automatic transfer.”

Daniel froze.

“If the German contract is signed, certain offshore accounts activate.”

“And?”

“Your company shares begin moving.”

Daniel understood.

The takeover would happen immediately.

David continued.

“You have maybe six hours.”

“Why tell me?”

David looked down.

“Because I want out.”

Daniel stared.

“After all this?”

David’s voice cracked.

“I thought I could control them.”

“Who?”

David looked toward the darkness.

“The people above me.”

Before Daniel could ask another question, a car engine roared.

A black sedan emerged from the far side of the garage.

It accelerated directly toward them.

David shoved Daniel aside.

The vehicle slammed into David.

He fell to the ground.

The sedan sped away.

Daniel ran to him.

“David!”

Blood covered David’s shirt.

His eyes were open.

He grabbed Daniel’s sleeve.

“Room…”

Daniel leaned closer.

“Room what?”

“1207.”

Then David’s hand went limp.

Daniel called emergency services.

But before the ambulance arrived, his phone buzzed.

A message.

You were warned.

Daniel looked toward the garage exit.

The attack had been a warning.

They were running out of time.

Daniel rushed upstairs.

Security followed.

Room 1207 was locked.

They forced it open.

Inside was a young girl.

Alive.

Terrified.

Martin’s daughter.

Daniel immediately called Martin.

“She’s safe.”

Martin began crying.

Then the girl pointed toward the window.

“They took my mother.”

Daniel froze.

“Who?”

She handed him a piece of paper.

On it was one sentence.

Bring Anna Weber to the ballroom.

Daniel’s blood ran cold.

They didn’t want him.

They wanted Anna.

The only person who could accurately expose their translations.

Daniel called Anna.

“Don’t leave the suite.”

“Why?”

“They know you’re here.”

Silence.

Then Anna said:

“Daniel.”

“What?”

“I already know.”

“How?”

She looked toward the door.

“Because someone is knocking.”

Daniel’s heart stopped.

“Do not open it.”

The knocking came again.

Three slow knocks.

Then a man’s voice.

“Anna?”

Martin.

Anna looked at Daniel through the phone.

“What do I do?”

Daniel said:

“Stay where you are.”

Then the voice outside changed.

It wasn’t Martin.

It was David’s security chief.

And he said:

“You have five minutes.”
