“Your Translator Is Lying!” — A Waitress Warns a Billionaire Before a German Deal

Chapter 9

The investigation became international.

Federal agents worked with German authorities.

Banks were subpoenaed.

Companies were audited.

Dozens of contracts were reopened.

The Architect disappeared.

But Daniel refused to stop.

He and Anna reviewed the hard drive.

It contained encrypted files.

Thousands of them.

Most were inaccessible.

Then Anna noticed something.

Her father had named folders using German words.

Not ordinary words.

Idioms.

Phrases that couldn’t be translated literally.

She smiled.

“He knew someone would need to understand German.”

Daniel looked at her.

“Can you decode them?”

“I think so.”

For three days, Anna worked.

She translated every phrase.

The files slowly opened.

Inside were transaction records.

Names.

Dates.

Meetings.

Payments.

And finally—

a list of corporations controlled by The Architect.

Whitmore International was listed.

So were seven other global companies.

Daniel stared.

“This is massive.”

Anna nodded.

Then she found another file.

It was titled:

PROJECT HORIZON.

Daniel opened it.

The document outlined a plan to acquire Whitmore International within ninety days.

The German deal was scheduled as the trigger.

David’s betrayal was only one part.

The Architect had recruited multiple people inside Daniel’s company.

Board members.

Executives.

Accountants.

Even security staff.

Daniel felt sick.

“Who can we trust?”

Anna looked at him.

“Not many.”

Then they found one final name.

A board member.

Sarah Mitchell.

Daniel froze.

“No.”

Anna stared at the screen.

“She signed the authorization.”

Daniel refused to believe it.

Sarah had helped him.

She had found the discrepancies.

She had protected him.

She had been with him from the beginning.

But the evidence was undeniable.

Daniel confronted her.

Sarah didn’t deny it.

“I had no choice.”

Daniel’s face hardened.

“Everyone says that.”

Sarah looked exhausted.

“They threatened my family.”

“Did you help them?”

“Yes.”

“How much?”

She lowered her head.

“Enough.”

Daniel felt betrayed.

But before he could continue, Sarah handed him a file.

“I also sabotaged their plan.”

Daniel stared.

“What?”

“I joined them because they threatened my son.”

She explained that she had secretly collected evidence.

The reason she had pushed Daniel to investigate wasn’t loyalty to The Architect.

It was an attempt to bring him down.

Daniel asked:

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I didn’t know who I could trust.”

Anna looked at her.

“Now you do.”

Sarah nodded.

Together, they prepared the final evidence.

The Architect was finally identified.

His name was Adrian Volker.

A billionaire financier.

He had controlled dozens of shell companies.

He had manipulated international contracts for decades.

And now he was preparing to leave the country.

Daniel contacted federal authorities.

But Adrian was already on a private jet.

They had hours.

Daniel called Anna.

“What do we do?”

She looked at the documents.

Then smiled.

“I know where he’s going.”

“Where?”

“Switzerland.”

Daniel stared.

“How do you know?”

“Because the final transfer is scheduled there.”

They rushed to the airport.

Adrian’s jet was already preparing for departure.

Federal agents surrounded the runway.

The billionaire stepped off the plane.

He looked calm.

Almost amused.

Daniel approached.

“Adrian Volker.”

Adrian smiled.

“You have your father’s eyes.”

Daniel stopped.

“You knew my father.”

“Of course.”

“You destroyed him.”

Adrian shook his head.

“Your father destroyed himself.”

Daniel clenched his fists.

“Why?”

Adrian smiled.

“Because he believed truth mattered more than power.”

Anna stepped forward.

“My father believed the same thing.”

Adrian looked at her.

For the first time, his expression changed.

“You.”

Anna raised her chin.

“You taught my father to be afraid.”

Adrian said nothing.

Federal agents arrested him.

As they placed handcuffs on his wrists, he looked at Daniel.

“You think you’ve won.”

Daniel stared back.

“No.”

Adrian smiled.

“You’ve only opened the door.”

Then he was taken away.

Daniel looked at Anna.

She looked frightened.

“What did he mean?”

Daniel didn’t know.

But one thing was certain.

The conspiracy was over.

Yet the damage it had caused would take years to repair.
