They lived in the same house.
Barely spoke.
At night, Clara sat alone in the bedroom.

“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“Did you ever love me?”
He looked at her.
“Yes.”

“Especially then.”
She looked confused.
“Why?”

She nodded.
“I changed.”
“Yes.”
“Too late?”
He looked at her.
“I don’t know.”
She walked toward him.
“What do I have to do?”
“Nothing.”
She frowned.
“Then what?”
“Be honest.”
She whispered:
“I’m sorry.”
He nodded.
“I know.”
“And?”
“Keep being sorry tomorrow.”
She laughed through her tears.
