He hated the name.

Alexander laughed.
“The board voted.”

Emma laughed when she heard.
“You’re famous.”
“Don’t encourage them.”
The center supported students who needed financial assistance.
Transportation.
Technology.
Housing.
Meals.
Emergency funds.
Counseling.

At the opening, Marcus stood beside Alexander.
Alexander looked at him.
“Remember the first time I bowed to you?”
Marcus laughed.
“How could I forget?”

“They did.”

“I still don’t like the name.”

Emma joined them.
“Dad.”

“You know what’s funny?”
“What?”
“Those women thought you were broke.”

“I was.”
She looked surprised.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Then they weren’t completely wrong.”
He laughed.
“No.”
“But they still missed the point.”
“What point?”
She looked toward the students entering the building.
“Being broke isn’t the same as being poor.”
Marcus became quiet.
She continued:
“Some people have billions and still don’t have enough.”
He looked at her.
“And some people have very little and still give everything.”
Marcus smiled.
“Who taught you that?”
