The Rich Neighbor’s Black-Belt Son Challenged a Single Dad—Unaware He Was a Navy SEAL
Chapter 8
The first attack came that night.
The power went out across the neighborhood.
Daniel immediately knew it wasn’t an accident.
He woke Lily and moved her into the safest room in the house.
“Stay here.”
“What about you?”
“I’ll be right back.”
“Dad.”
Daniel knelt.
“Trust me.”
Outside, three men approached the property.
They moved professionally.
Quietly.
Too quietly.
Daniel watched from the darkness.
He waited until the first man crossed the fence.
Then he moved.
The encounter lasted less than a minute.
Daniel disarmed one attacker.
The second ran.
The third froze when Daniel stepped into the light.
“Who sent you?”
The man said nothing.
Daniel grabbed his jacket.
“Who?”
The man smiled.
“You think this ends with us?”
Daniel’s eyes hardened.
“No.”
He released him.
“It ends with whoever sent you.”
Police arrived.
But before they could question the attacker, a car exploded at the end of the street.
The chaos allowed him to escape.
Charles arrived minutes later.
He looked at Daniel.
“I know who they’re after.”
“Who?”
“My former business partner.”
Daniel frowned.
Charles explained that fifteen years earlier, he had partnered with a man named Victor Hale.
Hale had secretly diverted millions of dollars through shell companies.
When Charles discovered it, he ended the partnership.
Hale disappeared.
But someone had continued moving the money.
Daniel understood.
“This isn’t revenge.”
Charles nodded.
“It’s cleanup.”
Someone was eliminating everyone connected to the original operation.
And Daniel had once been involved in stopping it.
But there was one problem.
Daniel’s military team had recovered evidence proving the network existed.
That evidence had disappeared.
Daniel had always believed it had been destroyed.
Now he suspected otherwise.
Someone had kept it.
And someone was willing to kill to recover it.
