The Mafia Boss Was Ready to Marry Another — Until His Maid Revealed the Secret She’d Hidden

Chapter 1

The wedding invitations had already been printed.

Three hundred of them.

Black envelopes.

Gold lettering.

A Delacroix family crest stamped across the front.

Luca Delacroix stood in the center of the mansion ballroom while six men discussed flowers, security, seating arrangements, and guest lists.

He barely listened.

He was thirty-five years old.

Powerful.

Feared.

And about to marry the daughter of one of the most influential families in the city.

It was the marriage everyone expected.

A perfect alliance.

A perfect business arrangement.

A perfect lie.

Across the ballroom, Elena Bennett quietly polished a silver tray.

She had worked in the Delacroix mansion for four years.

No one paid attention to her.

That was the advantage of being a maid.

You could walk through rooms without becoming part of them.

You heard conversations people assumed were private.

You saw things people didn’t realize anyone noticed.

Elena had spent four years doing exactly that.

And tonight, she was terrified.

Because Luca was about to marry the wrong woman.

His fiancée, Vanessa Hart, entered the room wearing a white silk dress.

She smiled.

Luca didn’t.

“Everything is ready,” Vanessa said.

“So it seems.”

She touched his arm.

“You look worried.”

“I’m fine.”

She smiled.

“You’ll learn to relax.”

Luca looked away.

Elena watched from the corner.

Vanessa was perfect.

Beautiful.

Elegant.

Rich.

Exactly what a mafia boss was supposed to marry.

But Elena knew something nobody else did.

Vanessa wasn’t who she appeared to be.

Elena had found the first clue three months earlier.

A receipt hidden in the study.

A payment to an unknown company.

Then another.

Then a bank transfer connected to a rival family.

She had tried to ignore it.

Maid.

Keep your head down.

Do your job.

Don’t get involved.

But then Elena found something worse.

A medical report.

Luca’s father had died six years earlier.

The official cause: heart attack.

The report had been altered.

A second page revealed traces of poison.

Someone had murdered him.

And someone in the Delacroix family had helped.

Elena knew who.

Vanessa.

Not directly.

But through her brother.

Elena had spent weeks collecting evidence.

Tonight she finally decided to speak.

But first, she had to survive the consequences.

She waited until the ballroom emptied.

Luca remained alone.

He stood by the window, staring at the city.

Elena entered carrying a tray.

“Leave it there.”

“Yes, sir.”

She placed the tray down.

Then stopped.

“Sir.”

Luca turned.

“What?”

Elena’s hands trembled.

“There is something you need to know.”

His expression hardened.

“If this is about the wedding—”

“It is.”

He frowned.

“What about it?”

Elena looked directly into his eyes.

“Don’t marry her.”

Silence.

Luca stared at her.

“You’re a maid.”

“I know.”

“You don’t know anything about my marriage.”

“I know enough.”

He stepped closer.

“You’re crossing a line.”

Elena swallowed.

“I know.”

“Then why are you doing it?”

“Because if you marry Vanessa, you will die.”

Luca froze.

The silence seemed endless.

Then he laughed once.

Cold.

“Are you threatening me?”

“No.”

“Then explain.”

Elena reached into her apron.

She pulled out a folded photograph.

She handed it to him.

Luca looked down.

His father.

Vanessa’s father.

And another man.

Standing together six years earlier.

Luca’s face changed.

“Where did you get this?”

“Your father’s study.”

He stared at the photograph.

Then at her.

“What else have you hidden?”

Elena’s eyes filled with tears.

“Too much.”

And then she said the words that changed everything:

“I know who killed your father.”
