The Billionaire Helped a Pregnant Stranger — Unaware She Would Become His Greatest Love
Chapter 13
Fifteen years after their first meeting, Claire was forty-eight.
Ethan was fifty-three.
Anna was eighteen.
She had been accepted into a medical research program.
She wanted to follow her mother’s path.
Daniel had become a beloved grandfather.
Their family foundation had funded hospitals, laboratories, scholarships, and research centers.
The Westbrook scandal was history.
But Claire still kept the original blue file.
One evening, she took it out.
Anna sat beside her.
“What is that?”
“The beginning.”
“The research file?”
“Yes.”
“Why keep it?”
“Because it reminds me that truth can survive.”
Anna looked at the documents.
“Did Dad help you?”
“Yes.”
“Which Dad?”
Claire smiled.
“Both.”
Anna laughed.
Ethan entered.
“What are you two talking about?”
“Your heroism.”
He groaned.
“Again?”
Anna smiled.
“Mom says you saved her.”
He looked at Claire.
“She exaggerates.”
“She doesn’t.”
Claire took his hand.
“You did.”
Ethan smiled.
“I would do it again.”
Anna looked between them.
“I think you two are ridiculously romantic.”
Claire laughed.
“Maybe.”
That evening, Ethan and Claire walked through the foundation’s newest research center.
A plaque outside carried no family name.
Only one sentence:
Truth belongs to everyone.
Claire looked at it.
“You really refused to put your name here.”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because the people who discovered the treatment did the work.”
She smiled.
“This is why I love you.”
He looked at her.
“Still?”
“Especially now.”
They walked through the halls.
Researchers worked late.
Patients received care.
Families waited for results.
The work continued.
What had begun as a hidden file had become a global effort to help people.
And Ethan knew none of it would have happened if he had kept driving that night.
