I Caught My Husband With His Mistress — Then I Did Something He Never Expected
Chapter 8
I confronted Daniel the next morning.
“Where did this come from?”
He looked at the paper.
His face changed.
“You found it.”
“You wrote this?”
He nodded.
“When?”
“Ten years ago.”
“Why didn’t you give it to me?”
He looked down.
“Because I was a coward.”
I felt anger rising.
“You knew I kept that box.”
“I know.”
“And you kept this letter?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
His eyes filled with tears.
“Because I couldn’t let go.”
For the first time, I saw the truth behind the man I had spent years resenting.
Daniel had never truly forgotten.
He had simply buried everything.
The guilt.
The fear.
The shame.
And perhaps even the love he didn’t know how to carry.
But that didn’t erase his affairs.
I told him that.
“I lost our child too,” I said. “But I didn’t destroy our marriage because of it.”
He nodded.
“I know.”
“Then why did you?”
He didn’t answer.
Not immediately.
Then he whispered,
“Because I hated the person I became afterward.”
