I Caught My Husband With His Mistress — Then I Did Something He Never Expected
Chapter 12
Several days later, Daniel brought me the old box.
“I think this belongs to you.”
Inside was the bracelet.
The letter.
And a photograph.
I stared at it.
It was an old photograph of Daniel and me.
We were young.
Smiling.
Hopeful.
I had forgotten that version of us.
Daniel sat beside me.
“I used to look at this every time I felt like giving up.”
“Why?”
“Because I wanted to remember the man I promised you I’d become.”
I cried.
Not because everything was suddenly fixed.
It wasn’t.
Some wounds don’t disappear because someone says sorry.
But for the first time, Daniel wasn’t asking me to forget the past.
He was asking me to build something different with him.
I finally understood the difference.
Forgiveness wasn’t returning to the marriage we had before.
It was deciding whether we could create a new one.
