Chapter 11

A week later, Rebecca contacted Daniel.

She wanted to see him.

Daniel told me immediately.

“What are you going to do?”

“Tell her no.”

He met her once.

Not secretly.

Not romantically.

He simply told her their relationship was over.

Rebecca asked him,

“Why?”

Daniel answered,

“Because I finally understand what I destroyed.”

When he came back, he handed me his phone.

“You don’t have to check it.”

I looked at him.

“Then why give it to me?”

“Because I don’t want to hide anymore.”

I pushed the phone back.

“I don’t need to check.”

He looked surprised.

“I trust myself now,” I said.

That was the moment I realized something.

I didn’t need to control Daniel.

I needed to know whether Daniel could control himself.

And for the first time, he was doing it.
