I Came To Fix Her Tractor Sunday — Her Twin Girls Whispered: “Mama’s First Smile In Months”
Chapter 9
Life didn’t suddenly become perfect.
There were still difficult days.
Bills.
Broken machinery.
Bad weather.
Arguments.
Fear.
But now Hannah didn’t face them alone.
Ethan became part of the family.
He helped the twins with homework.
He taught them how engines worked.
He took them fishing.
He repaired bicycles.
He built a small wooden treehouse.
The girls adored him.
Hannah watched their relationship grow.
One evening, she found Ethan helping them with a school project.
They were building a model farm.
The twins had drawn four people.
Hannah.
Ethan.
Themselves.
And a small figure in the sky.
Hannah looked at it.
“Who’s that?”
One girl answered:
“Dad.”
Hannah’s heart tightened.
She knelt beside them.
“That’s beautiful.”
The girl looked at her.
“Are you sad?”
Hannah smiled.
“A little.”
“Because of Dad?”
“Sometimes.”
The girl hugged her.
“It’s okay.”
Hannah hugged her back.
Then she looked at Ethan.
He was watching quietly.
Later that night, Hannah said:
“I was afraid you would try to replace him.”
Ethan looked shocked.
“I would never.”
“I know.”
She took his hand.
“That’s why I love you.”
He squeezed it.
“I don’t want to replace anyone.”
“I know.”
“I just want to be here.”
“You are.”
She smiled.
The family continued growing closer.
Eventually, Ethan moved into the farmhouse.
The twins celebrated by making him a welcome sign.
It said:
HOME IS BETTER WITH YOU.
Ethan stared at it.
Hannah watched him.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.”
He wiped his eyes.
“Something got in my eye.”
She smiled.
“Sure.”
The twins laughed.
They knew.
