I Accidentally Got Auctioned for a Date… My Best Friend Bid $5,000 to Win Me

Chapter 9

Three months later, Noah proposed.

Not at a restaurant.

Not at the hotel.

Not at the charity auction.

He took Mia back to the small apartment where they had first become friends.

The place had changed owners years ago, but Noah had rented it for one night.

They stood in the old living room.

Mia laughed.

“Why are we here?”

“Because this is where everything started.”

She looked around.

The tiny kitchen.

The cracked window.

The worn carpet.

She remembered the night they had met.

She had been crying after an exam.

Noah had knocked on the door because he lived downstairs.

He had brought pizza.

They had talked until sunrise.

She smiled.

“You remember.”

“I remember everything.”

Then he got down on one knee.

Mia covered her mouth.

“Noah.”

“I’ve spent years being your best friend.”

He opened the ring box.

“I’ve loved you for years.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“I don’t want five thousand dollars to be the most expensive thing I ever spend on you.”

She laughed through her tears.

“That’s terrible.”

“I practiced.”

She nodded.

“Yes.”

“Yes?”

“Yes.”

He stood.

She hugged him.

Then they kissed.

But the next morning, Mia discovered something unexpected.

The charity auction had raised far more money than anyone expected.

The hospital had reached its fundraising goal.

The organizer called Mia.

“We’d like you and Noah to return.”

Mia laughed.

“Why?”

“Because everyone wants to hear the story.”
