A 20-Year-Old Bought the Dead Land No Rich Farmer Wanted — Then He Opened the Record They Ignored
Chapter 13
Grace and Caleb eventually became more than partners.
Their relationship developed slowly.
No dramatic confession.
No sudden romance.
Just years of working side by side.
One evening, after a long day of planting, Grace asked:
“What would you have done if the land really was dead?”
Caleb laughed.
“I don’t know.”
“Would you still have bought it?”
“Probably.”
“You’re insane.”
“Maybe.”
He looked at her.
“But I knew there had to be something worth finding.”
She smiled.
“And did you find it?”
He looked toward the fields.
“More than I expected.”
Grace stepped closer.
“What else?”
Caleb looked at her.
“You.”
She laughed softly.
“That’s terrible.”
“It’s true.”
She kissed him.
The sunset painted the valley gold.
For the first time, Caleb understood that what he had built wasn’t simply a farm.
It was a life.
A life nobody else had chosen for him.
