“Do you still remember?”
“Every word.”
She took his hand.
“You stopped.”
“I almost walked away.”

They left the cafeteria.
In the hallway, they passed the counselor’s old office.
A new counselor worked there.
Daniel smiled.
“Do you miss it?”
Emily laughed.
“Sometimes.”
Then a little boy approached.

The boy was nervous.
“Can I talk to someone?”
Emily immediately crouched.
“Of course.”
The boy looked at her.
“I think someone is saying things about my mom.”
Emily looked at Daniel.
