The Billionaire Pretended to Be an Ordinary Man to Find Real Love — Then She Discovered Who He Really Was
Chapter 11
Five years into the marriage, Sophia became pregnant.
Daniel was terrified.
More terrified than when he had signed his first billion-dollar deal.
Sophia laughed.
“You?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because this matters.”
She smiled.
“You’ll be a good father.”
“I hope so.”
Their daughter was born during a storm.
They named her Grace.
Daniel held her.
He cried.
Sophia watched.
“You okay?”
“Perfect.”
He looked at his daughter.
“I don’t want her growing up thinking money is what makes people love you.”
Sophia smiled.
“Then teach her.”
They did.
Grace grew up surrounded by wealth.
But also by ordinary routines.
She attended public parks.
Helped at community centers.
Visited the foundation.
Learned to cook.
Learned to repair things with her hands.
Daniel wanted her to understand that wealth was a responsibility.
Sophia wanted her to understand that independence mattered.
Grace eventually asked:
“Why do we have so much?”
Daniel answered:
“Because I built a company.”
“Why don’t we spend it all?”
“Because having money doesn’t mean you need everything.”
“What should we use it for?”
He looked at Sophia.
“Choices.”
“Whose choices?”
“Yours.”
“Other people’s.”
“The community’s.”
Grace nodded.
She was eight when she first heard the story of the bookstore.
Daniel told her how he had pretended to be ordinary.
Grace frowned.
“Why?”
“Because I was scared.”
“Of Mom?”
“Of losing her.”
“Did you lie?”
“Yes.”
“Was that good?”
Daniel smiled.
“No.”
Grace laughed.
“Did she forgive you?”
Sophia answered:
“Eventually.”
Grace looked at them.
“Good.”
Then she hugged them both.
The past became a family story.
Not a secret.
