CHAPTER 8

Mara couldn’t believe it.

Her father’s company was days away from disappearing.

Frost would acquire Bennett House.

Vivian would control the transition.

And Mara would lose everything.

Ethan spread documents across the table.

“We need proof.”

Maurice connected the USB.

“We have something.”

Videos appeared.

Emails.

But none of it directly proved the stolen collection was fake.

Then Mara noticed something.

A button.

An old silver button from her mother’s archive.

She picked it up.

“My mother used these.”

Ethan frowned.

“Why does that matter?”

Mara smiled.

“Because these buttons were discontinued twenty years ago.”

She opened a box.

Inside were hundreds.

“Every original Bennett House collection had one.”

Maurice stared.

“Frost’s stolen collection?”

“Doesn’t.”

Mara suddenly understood.

“They didn’t steal the real collection.”

“They created a fake one.”

Ethan smiled.

“So the clothes they stole aren’t yours.”

“No.”

Mara looked at him.

“But we can make them prove it.”

They developed a plan.

A press conference would be held before the sale.

Frost would present the stolen Autumn Collection.

Mara would appear as Miles.

Then expose the flaw.

But there was one problem.

Sloane and Celia had discovered Mara’s secret.

They knew Miles was Mara.

And they planned to reveal it first.

The sisters cornered her outside the studio.

“We know who you are.”

Mara remained calm.

“What do you want?”

“Control.”

Sloane smiled.

“Help us destroy Dad’s deal.”

“Why?”

“Because Frost promised us positions.”

Mara stared at them.

“You’d destroy your own family?”

Sloane shrugged.

“You started it.”

Mara smiled.

“Maybe.”

She handed them a folder.

“Then wear these at the press conference.”

Sloane opened it.

Her eyes widened.

The dresses inside were spectacular.

She didn’t realize they were designed to expose them.
