The airport storage facility was almost empty.
Ethan found the locker using the key.
Inside was a single suitcase.
He opened it.
Documents.
Photographs.
Bank records.
And a video camera.
Ethan pressed play.
His father appeared on the screen.
Older.
Tired.
Frightened.
“If you’re watching this, Ethan, I’m probably dead.”
Ethan’s eyes filled with tears.
His father continued.
“I need you to understand something.”
He looked directly into the camera.
“I was never the mastermind.”
Ethan leaned closer.
“I was forced to help them after I discovered what they were doing.”
Then his father said something unexpected.
“Your mother is alive.”
Ethan froze.
“She is working with the only person I trust.”
The video ended.
Ethan stared at the screen.
“Who?”
Nathan looked at Olivia.
Olivia shook her head.
“I don’t know.”
Suddenly, airport alarms began sounding.
People started running.
A gunshot echoed somewhere in the terminal.
Nathan grabbed Ethan.
“Move!”
They ran through a service corridor.
Ethan looked back.
A man in a black jacket was following them.
Nathan pulled Ethan through a door.
They escaped through a maintenance exit.
Outside, Olivia was waiting.
But she wasn’t alone.
A woman stood beside her.
Ethan stopped.
His heart nearly broke.
His mother.
Alive.
She looked older.
Tired.
But alive.
“Mom?”
She walked toward him.
“I knew you’d come.”
Ethan couldn’t speak.
He hugged her.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
Then his mother whispered:
“I owe you the truth.”
She looked at Olivia.
Then Nathan.
“The man behind all of this isn’t Victor Lang.”
Ethan stared.
“Then who?”
His mother took a breath.
“The person who has been controlling everything…”
She looked directly at Olivia.
“…is your wife.”
Ethan turned slowly.
Olivia’s face went pale.
