I Caught My Husband With My Brother’s New Wife — Then I Discovered Their Betrayal Was Never About Love
Chapter 2
I didn’t tell Lucas that night.
He was staying in the bridal suite with Olivia.
He deserved at least one peaceful evening before his world collapsed.
Instead, I went to my room, locked the door, and started thinking.
Daniel had been distant for months.
Late meetings.
Secret phone calls.
Sudden business trips.
I had blamed work.
Then I blamed myself.
Now every excuse looked ridiculous.
At six in the morning, my phone rang.
Lucas.
“Claire?”
His voice sounded happy.
“Good morning.”
“Is Daniel with you?”
I froze.
“No.”
“That’s strange.”
“Why?”
“He wasn’t in the suite when Olivia woke up.”
My stomach tightened.
“Lucas, where are you?”
“Downstairs.”
I opened the door.
He was standing in the hallway.
Still wearing yesterday’s shirt.
His happiness was gone.
“You knew something,” he whispered.
I couldn’t lie to him.
“Yes.”
His expression changed.
“What?”
I took him into my room.
I told him everything.
He didn’t scream.
He didn’t cry.
He simply sat down.
“Olivia?”
I nodded.
“And Daniel?”
“Yes.”
He stared at the floor.
“Why?”
“I don’t know.”
He looked at me.
“You saw them?”
“Yes.”
Lucas covered his face.
“I married her yesterday.”
“I know.”
His voice broke.
“How long?”
“I don’t know.”
Then something unexpected happened.
He looked at me.
“Claire.”
“What?”
“You need to check Daniel’s company accounts.”
I frowned.
“Why?”
“Because Olivia asked me about them before the wedding.”
That was the first clue.
The affair might not have been the real betrayal.
