Six months later, Daniel asked to meet.

I agreed.

Not because I wanted him back.

He looked thinner.

“I loved you.”

I nodded.

“I believe you.”

“I don’t know why I did what I did.”

“You were afraid.”

“Yes.”

He looked down.

I stared at him.

I felt sadness.

He looked at me.

He looked surprised.
