CEO BROUGHT HIS SICK MOM TO WORK — THE SECRETARY’S ACTION LEFT HIM SPEECHLESS!

Chapter 5

The hidden trust was located at a private bank in Boston.

Daniel flew there with Emily, Anna, and Margaret.

He refused to leave his mother behind.

At the bank, they met an elderly attorney named Robert Hale.

He had been waiting for them.

“You’re late,” he said.

Daniel frowned.

“Were you expecting me?”

“For thirty-four years.”

Hale placed an old box on the table.

Inside were documents belonging to Daniel’s father.

There were letters.

Contracts.

Bank statements.

And a photograph.

Daniel picked it up.

His father was standing beside three men.

One was Thomas Reed.

The second was an investor Daniel didn’t recognize.

The third was a younger man.

Daniel stared.

“I know him.”

Emily leaned closer.

“Who?”

“Martin Blake.”

The former chairman of Whitmore Industries.

He had died twenty years ago.

But the documents revealed something shocking.

Martin had been the leader of the investor group.

And he had a son.

Ethan Blake.

Ethan was currently one of the largest shareholders in Whitmore Industries.

Daniel felt cold.

“He’s still on the board.”

Emily nodded.

“That explains everything.”

Anna looked confused.

“What?”

“Your father didn’t give you away to save the company.”

Daniel looked at her.

“He gave you away because the board threatened to destroy him.”

“But why would they care about a child?”

Hale answered.

“Because your mother was the only person who knew where certain financial records were hidden.”

Margaret closed her eyes.

Daniel turned toward her.

“Mom?”

She whispered:

“I had evidence.”

“What evidence?”

“Your father had discovered that the board was stealing from the company.”

Daniel stared.

“Then why didn’t you expose them?”

“I was threatened.”

“By Martin?”

Margaret nodded.

“He told me if I went to the police, Anna would disappear forever.”

Anna looked at her mother.

“So you chose silence.”

Margaret cried.

“I chose you.”

Anna reached for her hand.

For a moment, the room was silent.

Then Emily opened another document.

“This is interesting.”

She pointed to a transfer.

Daniel looked.

The transaction was dated six months ago.

Money had moved from the old trust into an account controlled by Ethan Blake.

Daniel frowned.

“Why would he activate the trust now?”

Emily answered:

“Because he knows we’re looking.”

Daniel immediately understood.

The threats had started because they were getting close.

But there was another question.

“How did Emily know where to look?”

Daniel looked at her.

She hesitated.

Then finally said:

“My father worked for Martin Blake.”

Daniel’s eyes widened.

“What?”

“He was his accountant.”

Emily explained that her father had discovered the fraud.

He tried to expose it.

Then he was fired.

A few months later, he died under suspicious circumstances.

Emily had spent years quietly investigating.

She had joined Whitmore Industries to find the truth.

Daniel stared at her.

“You weren’t just my secretary.”

“No.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I didn’t know if I could trust you.”

Daniel understood.

She had watched him for years.

And she had seen a man obsessed with work.

A man who might be loyal to the company before his family.

But when Margaret became sick, Emily saw something change.

Daniel chose his mother.

That was why she finally trusted him.

Daniel looked at her.

“You should have told me.”

“I know.”

“But I’m glad you didn’t.”

Emily looked surprised.

“Why?”

“Because now I know who you really are.”

Then the bank alarm sounded.

Hale looked toward the door.

“We have company.”

Security guards rushed past.

A man in a black coat entered.

Daniel recognized him.

Ethan Blake.

He smiled.

“You’ve been asking questions.”

Daniel stood.

“About my sister.”

Ethan looked at Anna.

Then Margaret.

“You should have stayed buried in the past.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“You’re done.”

Ethan laughed.

“No.”

He pulled out a folder.

“Your company is about to be mine.”

Daniel’s phone buzzed.

A notification appeared.

WHITMORE INDUSTRIES STOCK DOWN 22%.

Ethan smiled.

“Your board has already voted.”

Daniel looked at Emily.

She was already checking the records.

Then she looked up.

“Daniel.”

“What?”

“They didn’t vote you out.”

She paused.

“They voted to remove everyone.”

Daniel frowned.

“What does that mean?”

Emily looked at Ethan.

“It means someone just triggered a full corporate takeover.”
