Billionaire Pretends to Be Homeless, But the Poor Girl Knows His Biggest Secret

Chapter 8

Thomas stepped into the vault.

Two armed men stood behind him.

He looked at Lily.

For the first time, there was no kindness in his expression.

Only calculation.

“You look just like your mother.”

Lily stepped closer to Alexander.

“You killed her.”

Thomas shook his head.

“No.”

“You destroyed my family.”

“I protected mine.”

Alexander’s voice became cold.

“You stole from my father.”

“I saved this company.”

“You killed him.”

Thomas smiled.

“Your father was weak.”

“He trusted you.”

“That was his mistake.”

Lily held up the USB drive.

“You’re finished.”

Thomas laughed.

“You have no idea what you have.”

“The evidence.”

“No.”

He pointed at her.

“You are the evidence.”

Lily frowned.

Thomas continued.

“Your father built the encryption system.”

Daniel had designed a digital structure that made the stolen money impossible to trace without Lily’s biological access.

“That’s why they kept you alive.”

Alexander’s expression changed.

“They weren’t protecting her.”

“They were waiting for her.”

Lily looked at Alexander.

“Who?”

Thomas smiled.

“You.”

Alexander froze.

“What?”

“Richard knew you would eventually discover the truth.”

Thomas stepped closer.

“He built you into the plan.”

The final piece clicked.

Alexander’s father’s warnings.

The old drawings.

The fake identities.

Even Alexander’s habit of questioning everyone.

Richard had trained him without telling him.

Thomas wanted Alexander to take control of the company.

Then the hidden network would move under his authority.

And Lily’s access would unlock everything.

“You wanted us together,” Alexander said.

Thomas smiled.

“I needed you to fall in love with her.”

Lily stared.

Alexander’s face hardened.

“You manipulated us.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because love makes intelligent people predictable.”

Alexander stepped forward.

“You’re wrong.”

Thomas laughed.

“Am I?”

Alexander looked at Lily.

Then back at his uncle.

“You thought I would choose the company.”

Thomas stopped smiling.

“I choose her.”

The words echoed.

Lily’s eyes filled with tears.

Thomas raised his weapon.

Alexander moved.

A gunshot exploded.

The bullet struck the wall.

The vault descended into chaos.

Lily grabbed the evidence.

Alexander tackled one of the guards.

Thomas ran.

They chased him through the basement.

He disappeared into a tunnel.

“Stop!”

He didn’t.

Lily found another door.

Behind it was a small room.

A desk.

A chair.

And a calendar.

She looked at the date.

Tomorrow.

Underneath it was written:

Transfer ownership.

To Alexander Reed.

She understood.

Thomas was planning to make Alexander legal owner of the hidden network.

Then he would disappear.

Every crime would point to Alexander.

Lily’s heart pounded.

“We have to stop him.”

Alexander looked at the papers.

“You’re right.”

Then his phone rang.

Unknown number.

A man’s voice.

“Alexander.”

He froze.

Daniel.

“I saw what happened.”

“Where are you?”

“Not far.”

“Tell me.”

“Thomas isn’t the biggest danger.”

Alexander frowned.

“Then who is?”

Daniel’s voice became quiet.

“The person paying him.”

Lily stared.

“What?”

Daniel whispered,

“Your mother was wrong.”

Then the line went dead.

A new message appeared.

COME TO THE OLD HARBOR BEFORE MIDNIGHT.

Below it:

BRING LILY.
