Silence.
Adrian stared.
“What?”
Clara looked at Ethan.

“My daughter was Victoria’s biological daughter.”
Adrian couldn’t speak.
The security chief laughed.
“Your wife had another child.”
Adrian shook his head.
“That isn’t possible.”
Clara’s eyes filled with tears.
“Victoria had a daughter before she married you.”
Adrian looked confused.
“When?”
“Years ago.”
“Why didn’t I know?”
“Because she was taken from her.”
The room became silent.
Clara explained.
Victoria had become pregnant at twenty-one.

The child was placed in another family.

That child was Clara’s daughter.
Victoria secretly supported her.

Visited her.

“And Ethan?”

The security chief stepped closer.

“No.”

“Who?”

Clara pulled Ethan behind the desk.
Adrian tackled the security chief.

Adrian grabbed Ethan.

“Yes.”
Ethan’s eyes filled with tears.
“But she loved me?”

Then Samuel entered.

“Who gave the order?”
Samuel looked at him.
“Your father.”
Adrian froze.
“My father?”
Samuel nodded.
“Your father didn’t die.”

“He’s alive.”
“Where?”
“I don’t know.”
“Then how do you know?”
Samuel reached inside his coat.
He pulled out a photograph.
It showed Adrian’s father standing beside several men.
One of them was the security chief.

Adrian recognized immediately.

Adrian whispered:

Samuel nodded.
“The network is inside your company.”
Adrian looked at Clara.
“And they want Ethan.”

Samuel looked at him.
