At Her Sister’s Wedding, My Best Friend Caught the Bouquet… Then Walked Straight to My Table!

Chapter 11

Sophie stared.

“Me?”

Robert nodded.

“Your father was the trustee.”

“Why would my mother leave me a trust?”

“Because the money was never meant for Claire.”

Emily frowned.

“Then why use Claire as the beneficiary?”

“To hide the real beneficiary.”

Sophie sat down.

Robert explained.

Sophie’s mother had discovered Victor’s plan.

She knew he would search for anyone connected to the accident.

So she created a legal chain.

Claire became the visible heir.

Sophie became the true beneficiary.

Ben became the protected witness.

And Michael became the keeper of the evidence.

The entire story had been built around three people.

But none of them knew the full picture.

Emily looked at Sophie.

“You’ve been protecting a fortune without knowing it.”

Sophie laughed weakly.

“I caught a bouquet.”

Claire smiled through tears.

“And walked straight to Emily.”

Sophie looked at Emily.

“Yes.”

Robert gave them one final document.

A trust agreement.

It contained enough money to compensate every surviving worker and their families.

The rest went into a foundation.

But one clause caught Emily’s attention.

No beneficiary may access the trust unless the truth of the accident is publicly acknowledged.

Sophie looked at Emily.

“So we have to tell everyone.”

“Yes.”

A year later, the truth finally became public.

The construction accident was officially ruled a deliberate act of sabotage.

Victor Hale was convicted.

Robert testified.

Ben’s identity was protected.

The workers’ families received compensation.

The abandoned warehouse was turned into a community center.

And the trust became a foundation for construction safety.

Emily thought that would be the end.

But it wasn’t.

Because she still had to face Sophie.

Their friendship had survived the secrets.

But love was different.

One evening, Emily invited Sophie to the same rooftop where they had celebrated graduation seven years earlier.

Sophie arrived carrying flowers.

“The bouquet again?”

Emily laughed.

“I wanted to be the one holding them this time.”

Sophie stopped.

Emily took a breath.

“When you told me you loved me, I was scared.”

“I know.”

“I didn’t know what it meant.”

“I know.”

“I didn’t know if I could lose my best friend.”

Sophie looked down.

“You don’t have to answer.”

Emily stepped closer.

“But here’s what I finally realized.”

Sophie looked up.

“I’ve spent seven years wondering why every relationship felt slightly wrong.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“Because the person I trusted most was already standing beside me.”

Sophie whispered:

“Emily…”

Emily smiled.

“I love you too.”

Sophie covered her mouth.

Then laughed through her tears.

“You do?”

“Yes.”

“How long?”

Emily thought.

“Maybe not seven years.”

Sophie smiled.

“That’s okay.”

“But I think I was falling without knowing it.”

They hugged.

For the first time, there was no secret between them.

No fear.

No family curse.

No hidden evidence.

Just two women who had finally said what they should have said years earlier.

Then Claire burst onto the rooftop.

“You two!”

They turned.

Claire held another bouquet.

She threw it.

Sophie caught it.

Everyone laughed.

Claire shouted:

“Seriously?”

Sophie grinned.

Emily shook her head.

“Some things never change.”
